What happened to the Spirit of Fire!?

Can anyone offer up an explanation about what in gods name happened to the Spirit of Fire? Halo Wars was an awesome game with a great plotline but in many ways disappointed me solely because of the fact that it is simply irrelevant to the rest of Halo cannon. Will 343i ever tie the game into the trilogy somewhere? At least mention it in a book? Make a sequel? I was thinking it would be cool to somehow merge Halo Wars in with Halo 4… The Forward Unto Dawn is being pulled into that Forerunner trash compactor thing in the trailer right? Well what if the Spirit of Fire was already in there - if it had been pulled in while drifting just like the Dawn. Not only that but what about the Apex with that dormant Forerunner fleet? Wtf that screams Halo 4 to me with all the other Forerunner ish their revealing. Will the Chief find another Apex?

But yeah, those are my thoughts… hopefully 343 sees this. im done.

Everyone in cyro, with crew cycling to repair/crew the ship,
So of +10,000. There around 10-20 people walking around at a time and when they go to sleep it cyro till they reach a colony that not glassed or earth

Right but i want to actually know what happens. i dont want another hypothetical situation

In order to keep the cannon alive, no one on the ship could have made it back to a colony by the events of Halo CE. The events on the first Halo ring represented the first encounter with the flood by the UNSC. Had the SoF made it back, thier encounter with the flood would have killed that part of the cannon. If only Reach had made a move like this…

I always fancied - after I saw the Halo 4 launch trailer, anyways - that when Serina says, “Captian, wake up. Something has happened”, she was referring to picking up the distress signal Cortana was sending out. I hope that the crew of the Spirit of Fire is somehow incorporated into Halo 4, if only by being discovered dead. I mean, how long can you stay in cryo sleep? They’ve been drifting for over 20 years . . .

Before i start, it’s “canon”, not “cannon”. :stuck_out_tongue:

Also, it’s not a trash compacter, it’s most likely a Shield World’s portal (portal looks the same as what the Onyx portal was described as. “Steps” like Dante’s Inferno, the big fins up top, etc.).

Finally, i do hope they bring in the SoF to Halo 4. If not, then come on Halo Wars 2, or even a book or something.

I actually like this idea very much, i love it when stories can tie into each other like that

if you watched the Concept Art trailer then you saw the inside of the that maw from the CG trailer. There is a bunch of space junk inside which leads me to believe its some sort of Forerunner trash collector (salvaging for parts?). It would make perfect sense for the Chief to find the SoF inside.

that is for ensemble studios to answer.

I agree!! I like this idea too! It’d make sense, it’d be cool, fun, and I’m just tired of the SoF drifting around doin’ nothing, I put too much time into keeping it alive!!! Haha =)

Microsoft disbanded Ensemble Studios after they completed Halo Wars, so actually it’s Microsoft, or 343 Industries game plan now. lol =)

“Lost with all hands”

At least, that’s ONI’s theory.

spirit of fire is in an unknown part of space deep in (ex) covenant space with no FTL drive. ONI could have got in contact with SoF, in which case ONI would learn about Anders research and that covenant tech is derived from much older and powerful constructs, and that the ancient constructs have something to do with humanity. this sparked ONI into scanning human worlds, discovering many forerunner structures which would prove beneficial to humanity during the war.

but this is all just speculation.

I would conjecture, based on Serina saying “Captain, wake up. Something has happened.” That some infection forms somehow got on the ship, and well… Bad things… Bad things…

I don’t really see that anything really could have happened to them. They’re all frozen right now, and its been 20+ years. All they really could have done besides what you said is drift.

well come to think of it wtf happened to the spirit of fire in my opinion (if there is going to be a HALO 5) HALO 5 should be about either the spirit of fire or something that has to do with REACH like what ever happens to it (I know about halo but I only have Reach,4,and ODST so don’t get angry with me about my knowledge)

If the spirit of fire did return its old tech might actually help.
For one SoF has the ability to place planet side bases allowing for easy fortification. Even modern ships can’t do that. Yes they come with supplies for lad building and what not but they cant just plop down a base. Lets not forget the vultures, hawks, wolverines, cobras, gremlins, Grizzlies, Rinos, and many of their members have fought the flood and lived. This would make them a great ascent.

The legendary ending when Serina says “captain, something has happened” it would not be after the times of halo 4 because an ai does not last for 20+ years. But if we wanna known what happens to The spirit of fire, I guess we gotta hope 343 does a game about that or Microsoft hires ensemble studies again to make a game that explains what happened.

Its not a ONI theory it is simply there official story for the status of the Spirit of Fire. Grant you there is rumors that the crew of the Spirit of Fire, have gone rebel and are now enemy combatants. Also Dr. Anderson is a official Oni liaison for the Spirit of Fire so any “up to date” information on it would be either classified or surrounded in deception. Simple ONI protocol is all.
