So at the end of Ghosts of Onyx the surface of Onyx disintegrated into trillions of Onyx sentinels. Was it ever addressed as to what happened to those sentinels?

The slipspace bubble housing the shield world, however, had survived intact along with Blue team. The Dyson sphere was eventually transitioned into normal space. ONI soon converted the shield world into a research facility, named “Trevelyan” in reference to Kurt-051’s original surname.
Its likely Trevelyan has rings similar to Saturn made up of Covenant ships, sentinels and planetary rock.
I remember reading a theory that suggested that the reason the Sentinels that composed Onyx’s shell left right after Installation 04’s destruction, was because they were programmed to help build the Replacement 04B Installation at the Ark.

This is a very likely option. It’s also possible the ones that were still functioning after Onyx’s destruction departed to other Forerunner relic sites in the system, or even ones beyond that.
