What happened to the elites?!

I thought the elites were good guys now and were helping UNSC hence Arbiters alliance why out of nowhere do the elites decide humans are enemies compared to the Brutes.

BTW havent been here in a while so if I missed something elaborate me.

Can anyone respond

Like every human, every elite is different.

so there would be those loyalists.

there are also elites fighting each other, I’m pretty sure in one of the books some make a plot to kill the arbiter.

kind of like unsc and rebels.

I believe the Arbiter was claimed a heretic to what was left of the Covenant. These seems to be Loyalists/Fanatics that are left of it.

Just my guess on it anyway.

The entire sangheili race is having troubles right now. I haven’t read the book(yet), but I’ve herd a few things. The Arbiter is trying to establish peace with the humans, some elites don’t like this because they still believe in the old ways of the covenant. I’ve also herd that Thel(current Arbiter) is in danger of assassination.

also, Glasslands.

ONI well on their way to screwing up our relations with the Sangheili.

I’d reckon a civil war’s brewin’…

But… there’s no Covenant!

That’s what’s on my mind, in all this. Why is there a Covenant to speak of? There’s no Covenant. They broke up. Elites split to figure out their society before it crumbled to tiny pieces, and presumably grunts, drones, and hunters split to laugh at all the elites and brutes that don’t know how to be self-reliant. That’s how it was left off in 2553 according to Glasslands. I’m quite curious as to how there’s a new Covenant by 2556. Did they all just decide “let’s do that thing again?”

And why are they fighting the Master Chief? Are they just extremist outliers now? I guess that could be it. That would explain why they’re on this distant Forerunner planet.

I’ve never really trusted Elites, anyway.

Even in Halo 3, I was always anticipating betrayal.

There was a schism in the Sangheili race, some of the elites follow the Arbiter, the “Heretics” and there are other elites still loyal to the prophets, the “Loyalists”.

Wait why would there be elites loyal to the prophets if the prophets discarded them as a arch to the covenant army; thus only brutes and their slaves were used as the “covenant”

These Sangheili are rogue. Look at their armor. It’s less modern; the permutations don’t protect the Elites as much as it did in Halo 3. The are not the elites of Rtas Vadum’s Fleet of Retribution.

The Abiding Truth. Notice the grunts called the MC “the demon” again. They still believe in the promise of the Great Journey.

Agreed! I can see what could be MC against ONI later in the story (H5 or H6) while combating precursors and prometheans.

Honestly from Glasslands, I’m getting the vibe that ONI could turn into a type of Cerbrus operation. Trying to do what’s for the greater good of Earth and mankind, but really its just insane.

Example: trying to use the Halo rings as weapons.

I think that by the end of the Kilo-five trilogy, the Arbiter and probably the Shipmaster, if he is mentioned, will be dead.

I don’t think they would go to that extreme and lose the fan base. The Arbiter is a pivotal character in the story line.

If you look at the cover art, you can see a wrecked Covenant Carrier. My guess is that these Covenant have been here longer than the peace treaty and don’t even know the war is over.

I really hope 343 has the balls to give us Elite vs Elite fights in Halo 4.

The biggest dissapointment of Halo 3 has to be how all the Grunts and Hunters jumped ship back to the Covenant and Elites were barely there. Bungie said they didn’t want to confuse the fans. Great job, you left absolutely awesome material unused because some newcomers might get confused (And honestly in Halo 2 we had Heretics vs Arbiter’s team and no one was confused)

A prime case of “Lets try to please everyone” or “Lets cater to the lowest determinator”

possibly during the arbiter’s split a secound faction split off but took jackals with them as well as grunts where the arbiter got grunts and hunters
