What happened to the concept of making Halo feel like Halo?

First impressions matter.

Sorry, this is a little long-winded, but :man_shrugging:

Now I get that this is a beta and adjustment will need to take place, but IMO this doesn’t feel like Halo outside of the artwork that has always been appreciated, the time and effort the teams takes to put in creating the skybox, the designs for the gear/weapons, etc… in that aspect, I have to say thank you to 343 :+1:

It has always been something I have enjoyed that is part of the reason I have bought every single Halo from Bungie/343, giving me the incentive to explore. But, and there is always a but.

Halo will always have its fans some new and some that have been around a long time to know how things have changed way too much from Halo 4 to this bata, each game feels different and that is a problem because of the lack of (consistency) a company not learning to stick with what works in a game and improving things from there.

The #1 issue some companies haven’t learned is when you constantly change things you are leaving a hell of a lot of room for problems/issues/complaints, etc… and a lot of unhappy fans that doesn’t benefit the company nor the player base having to spend that time and resources changing what they changed that didn’t need to change in the first place. Take the original Halo series (consistency matters…)

This might not be the best example, but this is what happens when things change too much. The game The last of Us, part 2. IMO the game’s potential was literally destroyed. I know opinions will vary and there is nothing wrong with that. I’m just tired of seeing games that have the potential to actually become a great game being ruined over flawed logic…

Maybe I missed it but what exactly was the negatives? I mean sure they have changed a lot since Halo:CE but imo Halo Infinite is by far the closest game to Halo since 3.

I understand that changing too much can be annoying but if they kept making the same game over and over again people would turn around and accuse them of “selling $60 DLC’s”.

I honestly don’t think people take the time to realize how overworked and underpaid devs (for all franchises) are. Imagine working on something for YEARS only to be told it’s not good because of “this” or “that”.

This isn’t about the devs, they are not the ones that make the calls for what content is released. This is about who approved the open world because it’s a wasteland. It looks like to me that a contract majorly got in the way and the game was pushed out the door. What makes it worse is that Halo has literally been gutted to sell to us in pieces through a shop/battle pass.

I agree with what you said about the overworked underpaid, but they are well taken care of when it comes to a work environment, benefits, and bonuses. Also, some of them get to have their dream job of working from home.

So it’s not as bad as you put it out to be when you compare what others have to go through that have jobs that don’t have privileges as the devs do.
