What happened to the classic Halo theme?

You know, the E Dorian one we’re all familiar with. Halos 1-3 all had it, but 4 does not? It’s iconic. Everyone knows what it is.

Why remove it 343? :frowning:

Because 343i hired a new composer because Marty stayed with Bungie.
Neil wanted to bring a new style of music to Halo, more Sci-Fi and Halo sounding, but not copying Marty’s work.

Thats why. Neil has a different feel, or style to the music direction, so new music will be made to support that.

have you heard all of the songs yet?

didn’t think so

There are little references to it in a few songs, the main theme hasn’t been confirmed yet though, and yes there is one, it was confirmed in a bulletin ages ago.

It’s a new composer, so he’s allowed to make his own music. I wouldn’t be surprised if it, or something very similar to it, is in the game somewhere, though.

You can hear it referenced in the samples already released. It’s cleverly hidden in some of the clips. I don’t think it’ll be fully blasted but it’ll probably pop up here and there in pieces, and thats fine with me.

In the Hero Awakens BTS you can totally hear the E Dorian at work.

I’m sure one of the tracks on the OST has this part on it.

A variant of the monk chant is on Nemesis.

I figured such :). I think To Galaxy is the new iteration on the theme… I can hear some teases in there.

Also I get what you guys are trying to say, but to remove an iconic theme representing a decade of awesome is a bit silly.

I think To Galaxy will be able to hold me over from the old theme. And even though it isn’t on the official OST, that doesn’t mean it won’t be in the game. There were a bunch of good songs from past Halos that never made it on the OST.

That represented THAT decade, they want to represent THIS decade and this new trilogy with a new theme, although I wouldn’t complain if the old theme was still on the Halo 4 main menu.

Halo theme should still be kept/in whether the sole old track in an effort to create new ones - it’s still the iconic theme which people recognize, even those whom aren’t that familiar with Halo themselves.

Much like the Star Wars theme.

That’s a good point… But I don’t think I speak solely for myself when I say a little piece of my heart will be gone if I don’t hear it…

The new music is beautiful though… Haven I think it was is amazing.

Sure the new music has it’s good bitz, but it is still the classic Halo theme which brings us back to each our own - first Halo experiences, and remains as a song and echo - of Forerunners, ancient and lost mystery with a bit of angelic/divine theme to it - tying to Covenant religion and the naming of, well, The Halo, The Ark, and so forth.

You’re definitely not the only person that’s a little upset or wanting that theme back.

I would like it back as well, but I’d also rather hear new music.

While it probably won’t be in this game in full (like how it was in Reach with just the last part of the opening of Tip of the Spear being the main Halo theme), it may pop up again down the line in Halo 5 or Halo 6.

I have no doubt the main theme will be in there. If it’s not, 343i are fooling themselves… D:

Better be!

It’ll probably be blasted at the end when you drive the Warthog through Infinity while it explodes, blowing up Requiem from the inside.

I don’t want him to stray too far from Marty’s work. The last thing I want is a bunch of radio noise for a Halo game.

I’ll be angry if it’s not in. I’m tired of all this BS being made about the music, in ODST Bungie was like “lolno the real halo theme is for master cheef only lolz” and same deal in Reach.

But for Halo 4? There’s no excuse anymore, this is a main series Halo game, and they cannot just get rid of the Halo theme song. It has to be in, no excuses, no exceptions. Removing the theme song is like changing the intro to Family Guy, or the Simpsons. It’s absolutely not acceptable.
