What I mean by teamplay callouts (feel free to correct me if you know of a better term) is information that the game provides you to tell your teammates where objectives are.
Three examples are:
1 - The red X above your death. This is a great feature that allows you to tell your teammates what killed you and show them where that is. (ex. Someone with a rocket launcher killed you.)
2 - The location name. This is essential to teamplay. While teams can always create their own names(which we have been forced to do), everyone uses different terms. So when you play with a different team they have all new terms. It used to appear above the mini-map and as you moved around to different parts of the map it would pop up with different names for different parts of the map. (ex. generator room, lift room)
3 - The compass. This is just another feature that helps give easy callouts.
All of these are essential to structured teamplay. While currently teamplay is possible, it is very frustrating. A few of my friends have stopped playing due to not being able to communicate with our team correctly. I feel that it wouldn’t be a feature that would require a ton of work and if anything at least provide the compass since that is just a UI element.
Please feel free to comment about how you feel about my post. I also included a poll just for the sake of it.

This is actually completely unnecessary. One, the names were stupid, and there were far too many.
Big Ramp, Right Ramp, Left Ramp, Top Mid, Bottom Mid, Back Ramp… is there any more you might need for Haven, for example? And are the developers going to give them such simple, effective names?
Hell, they’d probably name them “//X-43 Gen7+ PowPlant Luxry Lounge Room” rather than “Big Ramp”.
I really hate the lack of red X. I still habitually call out “one shot on my…uh, well he’s by the…uh ramp thing…never mind he’s gone.” It drives me crazy.

I do agree that the names are stupid but then at least everybody would be on the same page. Another thing is that you wouldn’t be forced to use them. Of course you could use your own names but don’t you feel that the option would be good for people that would use them?
Call of Duty doesn’t have the X above a dead team mate so why should Halo 4?
On a more serious note, it was a dumb decision they all decided to make, like not having normal weapon spawns or no UNSC flyers. Little decisions that have hindered this game.

I won’t be a judge of how much halo you have played. But personally, the red X has always been extensively used by my teams. It’s quick to say and easy for your team to understand.
