What happened to SWAT?

Because I don’t recall people winning every shoot out I was a part of before. Now I can’t even pull the trigger before I am shot. Even when I aim for the head and pull the trigger, apparently, it registers too late and I am always outshot. Pistol precision seems to have gone to -Yoink- as well…

This is not an skill rant. The DMR seems to be working as usual, which is a good thing, but it seems that there’s a delay between pulling the trigger and shooting with the BR and a worse scope for the pistol. The issue is different for both weapons and I was perfectly able to use them prior to the WZ Firefight update, so skill and or online don’t seem to be the problem, especially since the other weapon still works for me as it has before.

Please tell me I am not the only one that noticed this… Otherwise I might have to reinstall the damn game or see if my internet is botched for real. But I seriously doubt it. The fire rate feels different than before.

Hmm, I’ll go and actually test this out when I can. I haven’t felt this sort of thing before, but maybe I just wasn’t paying attention.

I’d appreciate it. I don’t recall the DMR doing this sort of stuff. It does feel a bit odder than usual, but no biggie. The BR on the other side appears to have slowed down and lost precision. I used to be able to snipe people without using Smart Link with the thing. Now the only way I can hit a head is by using Smart Link and running the risk of being assassinated.

Then there’s the whole thing with the game not registering me downing a Phantom alongside other guys even though I was shooting at it nonstop and had yet to empty the clip on it…

I’m garbage at SWAT so I assumed this was because everyone was better than me.

tbh swat now feels so different than it did on release lol. But I just don’t play swat anymore due to horrible spawns.

Can confirm now… There’s something up with WZ Firefight (was finally able to end a game as the best player, but I could only kill the last two bosses when I used an Scorpion and delivered the finishing blow, rather than simply taking part in a team takedown) and confirmed my theory with one last game of SWAT. DMR works, other two weapons… changed, and not for the better…

You are not the only one that feels that way.

I’m not sure if it’s the timezone u r in or its just he game but it happens to me too. (I’m from NZ)

I don’t play SWAT much because the spawns are absolute garbage (why would anyone want to be spawned right next to an enemy?) but a lot of the weapons do feel different with each update. All you can really do is make the adjustment and wait for the next update to come along and make everything feel weird again.

Just like Breakout, I think SWAT should have its own purpose-built levels. This would help with the bad spawns that just can’t be fixed on the standard maps.

It’s a pretty wildly different type of slayer and would work much better on maps that take emphasized head shots into consideration, IMO.

I used to play SWAT frequently and also played recently and did significantly worse and would like to think it is for the same reasons, but I know my internet is very very poor quality which would explain the seemingly delayed response since I experience the same stuff you described. So I would check your internet.

Thas a good shout.

To be honest a SWAT/Breakout hybrid sounds kinda fun

I like this idea

Right, thanks everyone. I have noticed that every update does seem to alter the weapons to some extent. Perhaps the optimization of both weapons for WZ Firefight (which made them better for shooting enemies with high HP or towering targets) made the gameplay of SWAT change slightly.

Might be internet connection but, as I said, the DMR has no problems from where I am. I am just glad I wasn’t just blown off as someone complaining for being bad (because there’s no reason for my KDA going from mostly positive back to mostly negative when there’s around a week in between games and I rank lower than I did before).

Good call, before swat was updated I was doing good in it. I usually was on top of my team now since it was updated I’m always last. I thought it was because there was something wrong with swat and I was bad. But when I go play halo reach or halo 4 in swat I do really good. I could never understand why I do bad in halo 5 swat.

SWAT is a pretty tough match. I usually do pretty good at the first round, but then the next game is where things start to go downhill. It’s like a viscous cycle where a stroke of luck is good but then turns bad for me.

You have probably been playing less of it. Before Ghosts of Meridian, I used to teamcarry 24/7 now, I can’t get kills. all because I switched to Infection and grifball. It demands practice.

I literally played it the day before at the same time and it was alright.

not just swat for me, i also find it a huge problem when sniping now…previously the only sniper which i had a problem with was the binary, but i just cant seem to get the headshot with the sniper and beam rifles now…

Well, that’s it. Whatever you did to the gameplay 343, it did it for me. I am taking a break of at least one week and uninstalled the game this time. Next time you pull of an stunt that makes me the worst 6 times out of 10, there just won’t be a purchase of anything except the campaign.

I just wonder what my fellow company members will think now, but I refuse to drag them down because I can’t get used to people headshotting me even after I boost aside and behind cover.
