What happened to Romeo?

Now with the most recent issue of Escalation we can safely say that the spartan on the far left of this image is indeed Tanaka after seeing the final page of Escalation here.

So now we have Locke, Tanaka, Buck (99% sure) and one final mystery spartan that is obviously a female, but that begs the question. What happened to Romeo?

At the end of New Blood we saw Buck asking to be transferred to be just a member of a team instead of leading a team, and after what all Buck and Romeo went through in both ODST and New Blood It would make you think they would share in incredibly strong bond. So It seems highly unlikely Romeo and Buck would willingly be separated from each other into separate spartan teams.

So what do you think has happened to Romeo? Is he still alive and well just working separately from Buck? Or do you think between New Blood and H5 he maybe suffered an injury putting him out of duty, or maybe even death?

I’d like to hear everyone’s theories on what they think happened to Romeo.

-Yoink!-, I was looking forward to seeing Buck and Romeo back together again.

Are we 100% sure the red Spartan is female? Usually you can’t tell somebody’s gender underneath Mjolnir.

Every since Reach you generally can.

Also, red spartan has the totally wrong weapon to be Romeo.

dead

I figured Tanaka would be the red Spartan and the one on the left would be Romeo, but I guess that option is out now.

he died haven’t you read? he got killed by insurrectionist sort of the same way rookie died

No head canon allowed plz

I’m kind of shocked no one has made a “wherefore art thou, Romeo?” joke yet… :stuck_out_tongue:

In all seriousness though, my best guess is that he just got assigned to a different team than Buck after the events of ‘New Blood’. But it’s still obviously up in the air right now. Maybe we’ll find out exactly what happened when it’s closer to 'Halo 5’s release.

Romeo was a complete beam hole so I don’t mind him not being in halo 5 one bit. New blood basically said that alpha nine was split up. Between Dutch retiring rookie dying and Mickey incarcerated or worse.

So this would make it like this.

SPARTAN LOCKE TEAM:

Jameson Locke S-IV
Holly Tanaka S-IV
Talitha MacerS-IV
Edward Buck S-IV

BLUE TEAM:

John-117 S-II
Kelly-084 S-II
Linda-058 S-II
Fred-104 S-II

Maybe Romeo leads the multiplayer simulation now? :stuck_out_tongue:

Romeo was systematically erased.

Buck did say he wanted time away from Romeo and his old squad, and that he didn’t want to lead a team. Romeo probably just got put in another squad. Maybe we could get another comic book ark in his perspective.

Well as Buck clearly asked to be reassigned away from him and anything alpha nine at the end of new blood. I was not surprised or have I ever thought he would be in halo 5 after new blood came out.

For what he is doing. He most likely either leading his own squad or just got put into a new one. Most likely hear something about him later down the line.

To be fair Juliet was asking why his name was Romeo not where was he.

It’d be pretty cool if Romeo was the player’s Spartan (the one with Warmaster armour) in Spartan Strike.

This is what I’d expect.

If Romeo wasn’t separated into another Spartan squad, I think it’s possible that he could be made a potential or backup member similarly to Rosenda-A344 of NOBLE Team. It’s also possible that he might have once been a member but Locke, an ONI official or another authority figure might have dismissed him for misconduct. We’ve known that Romeo has had problems with authority since the very beginning of his military career.

because wherefore means why
.
I think that a Romeo and Buck dynamic would overpower the personality on Locke’s team. It would be a lot of comedy.

Hmm. Halo 5 is shaping up to have a more serious and darker tone. That may break the tone.

And since somebody hasn’t already said it, I think it’s because there’s already two black characters on Locke’s squad (i.e. Locke and Tanaka). Not that I have any problem with that. But I can imagine some people having problems with a predominantly white Blue Team possibly taking on a squad that’s filled with POC characters. I could honestly see some people accusing the game of racism considering Master Chief is confirmed to be the primary character of the game.

Biggest question of the year.

I’m going to be scratching my head for a good while about it, for sure.
