In the blog post they posted about FireFight and the changes coming to it, they mentioned they were working on something that they had [Redacted] that we could spawn with in ODST Firefight. Well they never revealed to us what it was, and seeing how they could not have been talking about the Battle Rifle or Vehicles, considering they showed that off, it had to be something new that you could not spawn with before. Now that the flighting has begun, what exactly was that redacted thing they were talking about, I have looked through all the custom options and there is nothing there that they had not previous revealed before? Is this something be saved for the finished thing or was it cut? Also is the cosmetic items we got for Halo 3 all we are getting? Because just like with firefight they also said Halo 3 would recieve cosmetic items never before seen, and given we have seen skins and visor colors I assumed it could not have been those. So do you think their is more to this update that we have not been shown? Or is what we see now, all we are getting in terms of the update.

My guess is equipment such as a Trip Mine, Bubble Shield, Power Drain, etc. This feature is probably not ready for the flight build and will debut with the main release.
Whatever it is…it’ll probably come later. I have noticed some things in the insider build that are ‘greyed out’ so I’m not sure if it’s just a design choice or just locked temporarily. In previous beta’s I think were just hidden instead of greyed out in the flights.
Plus based on what they said "I’m a little hesitant to talk about <redacted> yet as I’m literally working on it today, but I think we’re going to let you spawn with <redacted> in Firefight. Once it has had a little more time to bake and we have had test look at it we can go more in depth on it. It should be pretty cool, but I literally got that working like an hour ago, so we will see how it goes. If all is well, I’m pretty sure folks will be happy with being able to adjust their starting weapons and the starting <redacted> on the maps."
Based on that I assume it’s probably related to spawning vehicles in firefight.
I’m guessing either Energy Swords or Equipment.
Please let it be some form of the scarab gun.
Can’t see it being vehicles because vehicles was already shown in the screenshot. It makes no sense to redact something then show off exactly what you’re redacting. Wouldn’t make sense to redact the Energy Sword because the BR was already ported over so it’s not a secret they can do that.

Depends on the vehicles. I don’t recall the tank ever being playable in Odst firefight or the flying vehicle until this flight.

Yeah but the way they made it sound was that it would be something you spawn with on your person, like a weapon or equipment. I doubt its the vehicles because there is only one map they spawn on. I would figure if they are hiding something, they would want it to be something you can use on any map.
Hm, I haven’t seen anything that fits right now. I presume it’s something that comes from Reach or Halo 3 Firefight functionality, so hopefully we’ll be seeing that kind of flexibility in ODST.
They added custom firefight options, and added in weapons that were never in firefight before. They also made new firefight modes that never existed before so I think “redacted” may have been any of these things.
If it’s not the battle rifle (which wasn’t in the original ODST release)
There’s only 1 realistic possibility, forge.
There used to be a lot of talk about forging firefight maps, so this could be it!

Maybe but it’s kind of odd if it’s something else since the flight has begun, they haven’t mentioned anything about any other new features.

I’ll have to check OG ODST in regards to the tank; which one are you referring to though? The Scorpion, or the Wraith? I remember being able to hijack Wraiths in ODST with the same method used for hijacking the Anti-Air Wraith in Halo 3; stunning it with plasma pistol, taking out the gunner, punching the hatch off, & then head-shotting the driver from behind while pressing the hijack button.

Well I know there was ways to hijack the Wraith in Firefight but I don’t ever recall having the ‘human’ tank ever being playable in the Firefight mode since it was only in the campaign.
We’ll probably get some interesting custom firefight options down the road.
