What happened to "mini-campaign" DLC and new maps?

So, according to this post by ske7ch:

> Hi we’ve already announced that in addition to new leaders, the season pass will include a special 2-mission campaign addition. It’ll be coming later this Summer.

Instead of the previously-mentioned 2 “mini-campaign” DLCs, we’re now only getting 2 separate missions. If they intended that from the start, then they were kinda misleading, as “mini-campaign” suggests more than 2 missions…

I know I most likely will not get a response from the devs, but I still have to ask; What happened? Why are we only getting 2 missions now?

Is the majority of content only going to be new leaders for multiplayer and skirmish? When are we going to get new maps, both for standard play and Blitz?

The lack of communication about this stuff does not bode well, and just serves to worry the already dwindling playerbase.

Well…R.I.P potential Banished Campaign.

THIS POST IS NO LONGER RELEVANT OR CORRECT. IT HAS BEEN REVEALED THAT THERE WILL BE A FULL CAMPAIGN EXPANSION FOR THE BANISHED, AND THE 2 MISSIONS ARE JUST AN ADD-ON TO THE MAIN STORY. DISREGARD THIS POST.

The original quote on what the season pass was:
“Grow your war chest with the Halo Wars 2 Season Pass. The Season Pass delivers regular updates that span more than six months and include: New Leaders with abilities that change the course of multiplayer battles, new Units that add to your multiplayer arsenal, a new campaign expansion with exclusive missions, and even more content to be announced soon.”

The phrase “campaign expansion” certainly implies more than two missions. It now reads “new campaign missions” instead of “a new campaign expansion”. There has clearly been a (big) cut made.

As for the “even more content”… that would be nice.

If I’m being honest, unless these two missions are godly I’ll be incredibly disappointed.

Unless they plan on adding a full Banished campaign, I’ll be pretty upset. Still will love the game, but will be upset

Stuff like this is really -Yoink!- me off at this point.

So they’ve even changed the Season Pass description without notifying us?

Yeah, definitely shady.

They have also changed game features without including those changes in the patch notes.
EDIT: This has now been acknowledged by Ske7ch.

What changes?

Supply pads take longer to upgrade

I wouldn’t quite call leaving a change out of the patch notes “shady”, though it’s definitely not a good thing.

Deliberately misleading buyers by changing what they’re getting for their purchase without notifying them, however, definitely is.

343 aren’t known for their communication skills, but this takes the cake. They really need to explain what is going on here, and either apologize, or make things right.

Though I doubt either of those things will happen.

This thread just ruined my day :sob: goodbye Banished campaign. Probably goodbye to new maps (sketch hinted at no maps coming out in the Johnson reveal stream).

So we’re possibly getting a few more leaders, those two campaign missions (wouldn’t be surprised if UNSC as well) and that’s about it.

Honestly can’t blame them though, sadly the game is not a popular title. Wish more people would really see how awesome it is.

Don’t get me wrong, I like the game, and really do want it to succeed. But things like this depress me. Too many flawed games come out nowadays that show promise, but the devs/publishers just give up on them without trying to really fix them. More and more are starting to only care about the money, not their customers. It’s insanely frustrating.

SO the “campaign expansion” advertised in the season pass is going to be 2 missions? What??? So the season pass is a few leaders and 2 missions? And 343 wonder why no one gets positive about anything they do.

This needs to be spread, honestly. I had no idea they changed the wording of the season pass like that. COnsidering the price ($49 AUD, guessing its around $29 USD) these missions had better be very long with cinematics.

Maybe this is because I keep up on ske7ch’s posts but I always thought this was the plan.

He’s said time and time again what we will be getting and in fact I was never under the impression that it was more than two missions.

Then again, I never did read the original season pass description.

All these DLCs, season passes and micro-transactions… but nothing to show for it

Frankly, I’ve just now gotten to the point where I’m pretty much done with this game. I’ve been a very active player since launch, but the more recent things I’ve been noticing have left a VERY bad taste in my mouth. I could excuse occasional disconnects and balance issues because they were being worked on and addressed. I love halo wars, and I’d put up with just about anything. But in this last month, I’ve noticed a number of the actions of the team have been very distasteful, and I will not put up with that -Yoink-.

For example, when balance changes were being implemented and we as a community could follow them, that was great! But now that I’ve realized things are being changed with no notification and no acknowledgement, I’m having my doubts about how truthful the team has been.

Or, for example, the issue of my (and other player’s) top CSRs. Which reset after a HARD grind in season two back to my season one high. And, despite a post on the support section for what should be an extremely simple issue to resolve, has never even been addressed.

Or the periodic wiping of save data.

Or the changes to the season pass, without acknowledgement. It has just been played off as “it was always like that” when archived webpages clearly show otherwise.

In the end, the game is starting to feel downright lazy and dishonest. Issues that are critical are not being addressed for extended periods of time, the game was released unfinished, and content is being cut. This game was great, but it felt like a lot of issues went unresolved to build that cash-grabbing microtransaction pay to win blitz mode, which added next to nothing to the final product. Why they didn’t just focus on the core of the game and making it playable is beyond me.

IDK. I’m just feeling pretty fed up as a player and a consumer at this point. I’m thinking that after the BTC tournament next week I’ll probably stop playing altogether, unless something really compelling is released.

I just had to get that off my chest.

I think the problem is: We already bought the game and many of us the season pass aswell. So they already have all our money. There is really no reason for them to keep supporting or caring for their game, because we already paid for it. Sounds cold but this is exactly how it feels to me.

And by the way: Instead of fixing the save game problem, just make a blitz pack sale, just to squeeze out the last money and ditch of hope from us. I hope nobody buys blitz packs, at least after all this shady stuff.

I hope someone (from 343) will answer that, cause It’s really a -Yoinked!- up situation, we need more content for the canon/single player/story mode, I’m tired of all these multiplayer/championship -Yoink-, I fell in love with this game for his universe, music, characters and stories.
After all the bad stuff they get from H5 campaign and with all the req money they don’t even deliver us a damn dlc campaign…
Now this, 2 missions? I will wait cause I’m not a 343 hater and I love the new gameplay, even the new soundtrack and characters but they need to hurry up and put more stuff in term of storytelling IN GAMES, not other stuff only.

I agree, except with what Ive bolded in your post. Knowing what to expect from 343 and NOT getting excited about ANYTHING they do, is not being a hater. It is being realistic based on previous experiences, and not setting expectations too high to be disappointed, again and again. E.g, my expectations for Halo wars 2’s campaign were super low. When I finished the campaign, experienced very few (but well fleshed out) cutscenes, I knew my expectations were right, therefore, I was not overly disappointed like I would of been if I got the game on launch overly excited (I got it a month or so after launch) and hoping 343 would “get it right” or “having faith in 343”. Even though the cutscenes were good, they relied far too much on in game dialog to express context and characterization before and during a mission. Not to mention we only saw Atriox…what, twice??

Long gone are the days of us getting a full length feature film and a game together (all of Halo 2’s cutscenes combined are around 120mins, i.e 2 hours-absolutely incredible even by todays standards, back then few games even had short cutscenes at that level of story). Expecting a realistic product is not being a “hater”, its being smart.

You guys don’t know how sad I am that the potential Banished campaign “leak” may not happen. There was way too little Atroix in a game that hyped him up and the comics and books aren’t going to be enough for me.
