What happened to having fun?

Remember how we used to just play games for a bit of relaxation? No KD ratios, no grinding, no tryhards. Wow what a weird concept, just playing for fun.

Seriously, does it really matter? In a few years you’ll have a brand new game, some people will move on sooner, some will just quit. So does all this sweating and grinding really matter that much? That cool Achilles armor you got there ain’t gonna mean squat. I get being proud about your skill, I am too. Just trying to put things in perspective here.

I agree. Nowadays, everyone seems to think that a game, something made for fun, is the most important thing in the universe. i personally don’t care if I win or lose. If the game’s close, if both teams try, but don’t mess about, it’s fun.

yeah, pvp has been getting sweaty(literally) in every game

i did a game night a week or two ago, it was so fun not having to bother about a damn K/D

Yes. Entertainment value.

I’m gonna go out on a limb and say you’re a little salty after coming to the realization that you may never get Achilles

I enjoy winning and I’m naturally good at games, I win a lot of the time not because I’m “sweaty” but simply because I can shoot and most players can’t, having said that I’m not even that great, I’m just decent is all.

It’s easy to imagine the other team are “super sweaty try hards” but have you ever considered that they’re sat on their couch chilled out in party chat with their friends? And they’re just better than you?

To each their own?

I think if the game had incorporated more social game lists that catered to more of the population we’d see a little less of this. The social players could have their area, the try hards have theirs, and everyone is less frustrated (I would have said happy, but this community is incapable of being happy with any current Halo game).

I agree, gaming as a whole definaly became a lot more serious. But it’s all in your hand how serioud it is for you. Don’t care for your kd? Where’s the problem here then? Why bother with what other random people on the internet think.

Back in ghe good halo times you played a few rounds of social slayer, it was relaxed and fun.

Now each game is about timing weapons and power ups. After the game it is just kd and how good/bad your enemies are…

343i ruined arena.

then why dont u play just for fun op? there no definition how fun should be described, for one ist just playing relaxed for the other its doing the best

i play competetiv because pvp is competetiv, if your not having fun while playing pvp then you should consider to stop playing pvp

Yup, but can you tell me where I can find that infection…fiesta…coughcough. I haven’t played at all this season…just doing Warzone dailies waiting for that patch

Sprint is a big and deeply change, thats the price for feels supersoldiers, now deal with it guys.

To many people, having a “sweaty” match is very fun.

“Relaxing” in warzone can be boring for me, having a close game of CTF is intense and fun. E.g, I was playing CTF the other day, one team member quit when we were winning. It was a close match, but we won. It was real intense and fun.

Taking the game seriously and striving to win and be better than your opponent, does not mean we don’t have fun when we do it. If I wanted to kick back and relax I’d play customs, which is still take seriously :stuck_out_tongue: (I genuinely cannot help it)

get rid of unlocks, end of story. people will either play for social playlist fun, for esports, or for custom games fun. I know it’s an unpopular opinion but we all know thats where the seriousness mostly stems from. and if you could make your K/D W/L etc hidden because you dont play that way that would also do a huge change. lets look at custom games. halo 2 had a a few number of choices but people played it alot. https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/forums/84ad72a8b51847978545f685f651fc15/topics/old-school-halo-2-custom-games-list/cd037952-e75e-49ab-a28a-0d7609b273d1/postsHalo 3 brought forge, unlocks took not that long at all so people completed quickily in MP and moved on back to custom so competitive players could play against other competitive players. they has sooooooo manyyyyyy -Yoinking!- custom games it was awesome. than halo reach brings in that inheritor stuff that takes an eternity to win and custom games hardly ever were played cuz everyone was grinding. so it took almost a year or two before we saw a spike in custom games when most people unlocked the top rank and everything. Halo 4 have impossible unlocks like kills with that repulsive pulse grenade and that died out with not much customs. this might have a better chance because it doesnt have too much insane unlocks but thats “no deaths in break out” commendation i dont see anyone ever completing unless they played against scrubs the entire time.

if we have to go half i say only make unlocks matter in multiple player to wear but in custom games you have everything unlocked and usable for fun n machinema etc. custom games will be played a lot more with no one grinding and people who are only competitive playing in MP, it will be more like a halo 3 mentality of playing. so when you play MP you know you are gonna get people that play to win.

MLG Tryhards happened.

I’ve noticed that a lot more players have been trying harder ever since the championship games aired. More of the mlg wannabes came out to play it happens yearly according to the people who also play cod. But it seems like that is what 343 wanted whwn they made the game more try hards and sweaty people. Personally give me a good beer and good time players with no care but tbag there kills and im set

Nah, MLG Tryhards dont play warzone often. Just casual abusers/ratio lovers.

I feel you man. I am the same way. I just like to relax and enjoy my games but it’s getting really difficult nowadays. Gaming was much more relaxing when there was no online.

I think its just become a really big competitive thing anymore.

Sorry your limb just snapped, I have zero interest in Achilles, I play for fun, sometimes a lot, sometimes a little.

I do, I sign in and play, usually with a friend or two. but in the last couple days I’ve been really noticing a lack of teamwork and a lot of kill grinding, which is to the detriment of those who want to just play the game out.

You’re more than welcome to play competitively, I love a close game in Arena or BTB. What I don’t love is coming up against a team of 4 wannabes against my (low level) buddy and I and a couple of randoms, and don’t say that it’s my fault for not having a team, I’m not particularly social and maintain a few friendships and that’s it. I see no reason for the recent games where people just trap others in bases and slaughter them for this armor, and no I don’t want it. Must be one of the few guys who think it’s the most ridiculous POS to ever grace a Halo game.
