What happened to Halo Wars?

So I have noticed since xbox one came out that halo wars player count has gone down from 6000(not a lot but enough to instantly find a game) to 500 now that MCC is out. Also the fact that you are able to view old halo 2 service records but not Halo Wars man what is up with that? But now they are teasing us about a possible halo wars 2 it better be real, because so far it looks like they have completely abandoned it.

I suspect it’s because 343i took over from Bungie so have access all their data but Halo Wars wasn’t developed by Bungie so probably don’t have anything for it.

Well yeah I guess they have a whole halo wars site that i just found but it would be cool to have everything on here

I’m 100% certain that Halo Wars 2 will be announced in 2015, probably during E3. Frank O’Connor has basically confirmed that it’s in development. Phil Spencer has also hinted at a sequel. He is even a fan of the game. There was also Halo: Escalation issue 6 ending with a flood infection form walking around the Spirit of Fire. All the cryo tubes were also open, with no sign of damage. It also showed a unknown planet in the background. Unless Microsoft closes the Xbox division, we’ll se another game soon.

I still play Halo Wars and have also noticed a drop in players…

Sequels in Halo generally turn out quite well… HALO 2! HALO: SPARTAN STRIKE? HALO WARS 2? HALO 5: GAURDIANS?..

Stole the link right out my hands xD

My guess is just that many players have moved on as much as I hate to say it. However I thoroughly enjoyed Halo Wars and would love to see a Halo Wars 2.

It sucks. I still play pretty regularly and there are less than 1000 players. There are more than 1000 players on another Halo game that came out the same year (reach).

Agreed… I’m not a huge RTS fan, but I really enjoyed it’s simplicity (which was what garnered so much initial hate lol), I loved the story and the cinematics, and would definitely like to see a sequel. I never played to much matchmaking, because frankly, I was horrible haha, but my friend and I went at each other a few times

It’ll be back, those posters of scenes from halo wars in several microsoft games points to that.

There’s a few in H2A and one in the scalebound trailer and some other games which i can’t remember atm…

EDIT:Frank o 'conner also pretty much confirmed it awhile back.

It was only fitting that I’d do it.

There are rumors you will be able to take control of individual units on the battle field and do FPS combat.

The total time played in halo wars just in standard mode 1632 years (its all those damn super turtles I tell ya)

I think its pretty likely that news of a Halo Wars 2 will reach our ears. I’m pretty sure that then is when you can access a Halo Wars game service record on here.

That sounds awesome. Would be cool to step into the boots of an ODST or a marine on the battlefield. Or even play as a grunt or an Elite, maybe even an hunter. I hope this will be a feature.

Imo Halo Wars is one of the most underrated games of last generation. I know it got good reviews, but it didn’t get the exposure it deserved because it was a nontraditional Halo game.

I think that’s mostly because it was a console rts. There are not many good rts franchises left and console rts’s tends to be bad. I very much enjoyed Halo Wars, but I wish it had been made for pc instead. A controler is a bit too limiting for a rts.

I figure it would be awesome if it had a space segment to the RTS, like Starwars: Empire at War.
