Today I was playing MP in Halo: TMCC and I realised something, it´s very difficult (nearly impossible) to have some fun in a match, why? Because the game has become very, very competitive, its now a game that if you are not a master in it you will failure over and over, in this comunity there´s no place for new players or “noob” people, I realized that in every match is the same thing: The god that ended that match 30-2 (exaggerating of course) and the “rest of the players”, making the game fun just for the guy that was in first place but a hell for the others making them quit the match or even quit playing, this would be funny if this didn´t happen every single match in any type of game, I think that I won´t play any Halo MP until Halo 5.
That was my experience in every Halo multiplayer until Halo 4. 4 was the game that finally figured out how to not match players of widely differing skill levels. MCC never even tried to keep noobs and pros apart until the ranking systems arrived. And those are a whole separate can of worms, which still aren’t very good at appropriately segregating players - although that will get better over time. Patience, as in all things, is the key.
Well it is A very competitive game… That’s y they use it for comp. because it’s a paced game and depending on how you play you can pick up the pace… Playing more competitive people will make u more competitive but also allow you to learn from the experience each time… It’s a game of being one step ahead of the other team weapon wise and map wise… Learn that and then what you see as to competitive now will be Just playing a game… Consistentsy is the key. (I have a hard time sometimes as well)

Not true at all. Bungie had it figured out in H2, H3 -Yoinked!- it up.
First of all, ranks just came out. Good people that will be higher ranked are low ranked. I think I quite well at the game but can’t get above 13 in H3, H2(which is what I play most). Second it is ridiculous that I can play high leveled people(example: Im playing Halo 2 and I am a 10, I play or am teamed up with a lvl 28+) which I must say hasn’t happened in a while, not since update. However if that person happened to be a lvl 50 in H2A, then so be it, different playlist. Give it a month or two and tiers will start to emerge in the ranking system.
In Halo 2 we had tiers that went by the levels. And in MM you would play people close to you. If I was a lvl 34 and went in with a 6, we would get a game of people from 26-39 depending on their team(if they are a party of 2,3,or 4). And if we win the lvl 6 could boost up to lvl 10. I remembered win I played Halo 2 and once I got up to lvl 20(in slayer/HC) I had to train to lvl up, or I would just quickly derank as I get my -Yoink- handed to me because the people that are lvl 22-29 are on another level than I would be. Then at 25, had to do it all over again, go play hellalot of custom FFAs on Midship and MLG, then at 32 I hit my cap. Halo 2 was dying off, and the only people who stayed were the good ones.
Halo 2 level tiers:
0 - 6 : just starting
7-14: Getting the feel down
15-20: Learning to shoot
21-27: Able to hold you own…depending
28-35: Getting alright
36-Symbols: Really damn good
Any of the Symbols : Most likely a cheater in some form and is a badkid. Or they or really damn good. I knew a guy legit 48 in snipers(Redonkeylus) and he was amazing with snipe(NEVER missed a shot, 12 kills guaranteed)
Neigbor got a lvl 50 in Hardcore and people went ape -Yoink- that someone was actually able to do it, then other pros(not many) was able to do it aswell.
In Halo 3, I got a 50, took me some time at first but once I figured the br and the other -Yoink- things added in and went in with a To4 I was able to get it, I would have never been able to get a 38 in H2 and if I did I don’t know what I would have done(Im tearing up just at the idea of it).
But Halo is mostly about customs. Running MLG/Snipe/whatever lobbies. Halo built multiplayer. On Halo 2 with our limited customization people were able to play Zombies that was hella fun, play hide n Seek which was hella fun, Cat and mouse, cops and robbers, and I can go on and on about the -Yoink- game variants that is available in all halos. Hell today me and a friend tried out Hornet racing on H2A Coag, holy -Yoink- would that be fun with 16 folks. If you want to play customs like that and let MM sort itself out ‘eventually’ then I suggest you going on some halo forums and looking for people that want to play that kind of stuff.

One of the things that bugs me the most is that no one uses their mics. Some of my best halo memories are the whole lobby are communicating with each other. Those moments are nearly impossible with MCC due to the lobby immediatly disbanded after each match. Just yesterday there was 5 people (of 16; BTB) with mics and it was one of my favorite matches I have ever played on MCC to date.
Anyway there’s my rant about MP, hope 343 eventually fixes all the problems in MCC (not just this one and adds Reach) and learns from their mistakes (doesn’t Yoink up) for Halo 5 MP.

You’re a little right about Halo 2. The system was flawed, but nevertheless was also the highest functioning ranking system any Halo title ever had. (Except for H4, more on that in a minute).
The problem was that by the time Halo 3 rolled around people had figured out so many ways to defeat the ranking system that the game became virtually unplayable. Oh, look at that “4” on the other team. He just went 28 and 2. Guess he decided to start a new account because he got tired of having to work for it by playing other 50s. Oh, look at that “25” who’s been afk for three matches in a row. How many more games will he sleep through in order to de-rank? Oh, look at that “11” over there. He has four 50s in other playlists, but thanks to the inscrutable wisdom of the developer he gets to start any new playlist as a “1” as if he’d never played the game at all. That’s nice for the legit 1s. If you want to know why Bungie dropped visible ranks, this is it. If you want to know why 343 dropped them from Halo 4, this is it.
Then comes along Halo 4 and most try-hards won’t even play the game because, amongst other things, it has no visible ranking system - nothing to grind for. Many players assume that it had no skill-based matchmaking at all, which is ridiculous. No game ever did a better job of matching similarly skilled players. De-rankers? Gone. People starting new accounts every three months? Over and done. A decent-sized and sustained multiplayer population? Not so much. Too bad.
Well, Guardians will give us our ranking system back, but if you want a preview of what that will be like just look up and down this forum or the MCC forum. “I won eight games and ranked down.” “The rank system is broke.” “My buddy and I play together but he’s a 50 and I’m a 28 - ranks busted.” “Ranks cheat.” “Take your ranks and shove 'em up your…” You get the picture. Bungie.net had a million such threads. Waypoint is building up its portfolio as we speak, and when Guardians launches the ranking system discontent will hit levels you cannot even imagine. File under: be careful what you wish for.
Usually modes like Action Sack, Fiesta, and Big Team Battle arent as “competitive” or “sweaty”.
This made me smile a little bit. I just randomly looked for my name on this thing after I did a post, and I stumbled upon your comment. I appreciate how you actually remembered me. I spent a lot of time playing snipers back then. Haha. Hope all is well for you! God bless!
