If you check out the list Halo 4 has the lowest number of vehicles since Halo 2.
You would think since it is 2557, the UNSC vehicle arsenal would have expanded, Not diminish, and get rid of their flying ones. Don’t get to see and hornets or falcons other the the skyline map, and the only new vehicle is the Mantis.
Not only is there less vehicles, they all have been ruined. Everyone has access to a Plasma Pistol and 2-3 plasma grenades. It seem people get in a vehicle and it doesn’t tend to last more than 2 minutes.
I just wish the vehicles would go back to how they were in Halo 3, feared and used and not laughed at and destroyed.
I was really, really, really hoping for at least the Halo Wars Wolverine to return or the Locust when I saw we finally had a walker. But I think it’s because they were unprepared for Requiem.
OP, you missed the Troop Hog from Halo 3, ODST and Reach.
I’m also a bit underwhelmed by the treatment of vehicles in Halo 4. I’m sure 343i will claim that Spartan Ops fulfills role of big vehicle battles and therefore we don’t need big, vehicle-heavy MP maps… but it’s just not the same, just like Spops is nothing like a replacement for Firefight either.
There’s still one DLC pack to come, so let’s cross our fingers that after Crimson (medium/large maps with a mostly infantry focus) and Majestic (small maps, infantry only) the final pack gives us some larger play spaces suitable for BTB and Dominion, along with what we’ve all been asking for: a bigger Forge space, and more damn vehicles.
There’s now a Hornet model in the game (Skyline) so making it playable is just a formality… right? Right? eyes welling up
I for one think that they should negate the effect of a plasma bolts ability to lock onto ground vehicles, similar to the way rockets can only lock onto flying vehicles.
I really think it came down to balancing the whole game, whether it worked or not is opinion. Edit: Also, there are not that many large maps so are more vehicles necessary?
When I first heard the rumors of Halo 4, I was anticipating a huge amount of vehicles and at least contain the Halo 3 era. (As it was a few years later and the arsenal was way better).
Plus I was expecting The Ark and The covenant, The storm and Tsavo Highway like battles and vehicle action.
Multiplayer seemed so much more fun in Halo 3. Variety of vehicles and weapons and game modes, especially BTB, it was the best.
I was depressed playing this game knowing none of that was there. Halo 3’s vehicles and sandboxes were way better than Halo 4’s…
I think it’s due to hardware limitations on the xbox. You can’t have really large BTB maps and tons of vehicles since we’re running on 8 year old hardware. I also think it’s why forge world hasn’t been expanded into what it used to be. You can’t have a game that looks as good as halo 4 and have all that stuff in it.
Take a look at BF3 on console. That game looks horrible and there’s only 24 players a server. Compared to the 64 players and the beautiful look of the game on pc
Also take a notice into how they spawn enemies in Spartan Ops. They come in small waves by phantom or drop pod all the time. Same for campaign. Whenever there’s a heavy amount of enemies on the map it causes the game to lag up.

I think BF3 looks fine on the Xbo360, esp after installing the free HD, DLC.
I would rather have a game that looks slightly worse but has better quality gameplay. If they can do it with Reach then why not with H4? The graphics in the new game are not even that much better. I don’t think 343 can use hardware limitations as an excuse for this games deficiencies.
That’s 16 vehicles in total just by making counterparts to every main vehicle. Of course there should be new vehicle classes and this would double the amount of vehicles for the game.
The problem with Halo 4 is that it’s missing so many needed vehicles.
The second problem is that many of the vehicles that they have are not featured in War Games. For example, the Scorpion is only on one map which is Exile.
The third problem is that these vehicles are so much weaker IMO. You’ve got a better chance of surviving on your feet than in a vehicle.
