Cortana said that she was based off of Halsey. Does that mean Master Chief is searching for Halsey? If so then Cortana probably never died, OR there could be a human Cortana. It sort of makes sense, but I am guessing.
This is just a blind guess.
I personally want her to stay dead, if she doesn’t it will take away the sense of danger in the plot. That and I don’t want another game focused on cortana.

I sorta agree, before halo 4 chief sorta had no emotions.
double post sorry.
Cortana is currently dead but it’s kind of soul crushing to leave her that way. Also the Forunners were trying to cross the physical into digital so there could be an opportunity to not only resurrect Cortana but also turn her into a corporeal being.
Cortana is dead. Halo 4 says it (via the description of the epilogue), the Halo 4 Essential Visual Guide says it (in Chief and Cortana’s sections) and Halo: Escalation says it (through the summary of the first issue).

I read that in Halsy’s emotionless voice… man, you left me hopeless.
Considering that 343i has confirmed her death three times, it’s foolish to refute her demise. And personally, unless it’s done really well and (somehow) doesn’t cheapen Halo 4’s ending and doesn’t shatter the potential character development that John would gain otherwise, I don’t want to see her come back in any way that isn’t the Gravemind sending John hallucinations in order to lure him into a trap.
However, a post by Catalog pertaining to the destruction of Mantle’s Approach does arose my attention:
> Analysis of [multispectral] and [dynamic signal] characteristics indicate Promethean Command Warship lost primary structural control [2557: 0725231423?], with [heart] conducting emergency [slip stream space] translation to [sector] rally point.
It looks like a part of Mantle’s Approach, probably the Cryptum, slipspaced away as the ship fell apart.
It could be possible that a handful of Cortana’s rampant fragments seized the opportunity to use the Didact’s Cryptum to get off of Mantle’s Approach before it was destroyed while the other fragments stayed back to save Chief from the nuke.
is dead
Or what re-lives

I wonder if bits of Mantle’s Approach made it to Gamma Halo since that is where the Didact ended up.
It will be interesting to see Chief without an AI attachment. I’m excited to see what 343 has done with Halo 5’s story
A human Cortana would be the most blatantly stupid fan-fiction made canon. If you want human Cortana and chief to run off together and have babies, look up source filmmaker and keep it out of the games.

Now that you mention that, that just gave me dose of cringe.

The thing about those transcripts gathered from Forerunner artifacts is that the stuff inside the brackets are guesses. We know what slip stream space is, so why is it in brackets? Possibly because we were able to decipher “emergency” and “translation” but not the actual method? The best guess is that slipspace is involved, but there’s more to it than that. We also know that slipspace travel is instantaneous, and even rampant, Cortana still has pretty good timing.
It’s also possible that she may have been moved by an outside entity. Was it just chance that the half of Forward Unto Dawn with Chief and Cortana just happened to show up at Requiem?

Well, we know a slipspace event was formed beneath the Didact, so I think we can assume slipspace is correct for now. As for the Dawn, we can thank Mendicant Bias for sending Chief to Requiem, though for what purpose given hindsight I can’t imagine why. My only problem is that I have to wonder why Cortana didn’t mention it to Chief.

Why, indeed? The Plot Thickens wrings hands menacingly*
I also believe Mendicant Bias was responsible, and I believe I so stated that in the Halo 3 Forum. In any event, how did he do that? He’s supposed to be buried somewhere thinking about atonement. How is he even aware of Master Chief, let alone able to transport him at will? Forerunner Magic?
Also, in CE while Chief and Cortana are searching for Marines on the Halo ring, Cortana mentions that the glyphs she saw looked “familiar”, yet didn’t know why. She was still processing data from her previous excursions. I wonder where they were going with that? Anyway she has time to think about it. Wonder if she figured it out? I still wonder what she knew.
Or knows
Remember that Chief and Cortana where “modified” by the Librarian, with “many gifts”.

Well, the Halo 4 Essential Guide confirms Chief made contact with Bias through the Terminals scattered on the Ark. Spark was said to be able to measure ones geas in a way, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Bias has similar functions and recognized Chief as important. Bias may have been buried, but he had access to some systems and the portal seems to be one of them.
As for Cortana recognizing the symbols, I think it is as simple as her already having knowledge regarding Forerunner glpyhs from the Sigma Octanus and SWORD Base artifacts. Both were Forerunner and so is the Halo.
