What happened to co-op modes?

I love the new Halo 5 gameplay, but I am ready for some Reach and Halo 4 again. I miss Spartan Ops and Firefight. I think it’s funny that they consider Destiny to be a competitor to Halo, when Destiny is about 90% co-op and 10% PVP.

Sure, you can co-op campaign, but you can’t use your Spartan, the campaign was underwhelming, and there is no commendations, nor scoring or unlocks anymore.

[Edit]
One thing that I imagined Halo 5 would implement, is some sort of mini-raid mode. Or some sort of Strike-like mode, etc. Which I guess is essentially what Spartan Ops was. I mean, this is where PVE can really takeoff for Halo. Instead of pitching Warzone as being PVE, when in fact it’s 85% PVP.

I just want some campaign love. Campaign matchmaking on heroic difficulties. Campaign scoring. Campaign commendations. Campaign REQ points. I feel there is no love from 343i for those who love the campaign. All the marketing and everything done was about the campaign, but with the game as is, its like they would rather have you do anything other than play campaign.

THANK YOU!!
I actually really thought there would be campaign req points.

nvm-edit

I guess with the lack of inclusion of PvE modes or casual game types like infection or grifball, we can get an idea of where 343’s priorities lie.

60 FPS + 1080p > content.

All about that money and Esports

I agree with this

This may be on the way. I would enjoy 6 player co-op Spartan Ops season 2. Destiny is a completely different shooter compared to Halo. IMO Destiny has no reply value unless you have friends to play with. Destiny is a giant firefight mode with a poor storytelling that includes multiplayer.

I’m with you OP. I’d love to see some sort of PvE challenge mode that has shifting objectives. Sure, you can play a custom vanilla game of Firefight where you have the traditional wave-spawning system, but then have a mode with various objectives that can show up in various combinations with randomized enemies. I like the idea of coming around a corner not being sure if an enemy is there and, if there is, not knowing whether you’re going to run into a grunt or a Hunter. I’d definitely love to see a more modular system where you have mission building blocks that can be changed around and added to as time goes on. Heck, maybe even build in a variation of a Sangheili Nemesis system that feeds into the enemies mission to mission? I’m just spitballing here, but if anyone from 343i or another developer sees it and thinks it would be cool and workable… I’m just saying Halo should be back at the forefront of innovating ways for people to play together and against each other (Warzone doesn’t count for me since I feel Titanfall is pretty similar to that).

And yes, let’s up this co-op stuff to 6-players or more (though not requiring it if you want to run a three-man Firefight/Spartan Ops session)!

Exactly! Screw the non die hard competitive people who want to just enjoy the game instead of getting curb stomped into next week, let’s just appease a percentage of our total community because we want you to play the game how WE want you dammnit! Screw having a game with something for everyone, we want you to play our way!

I don’t understand why people want PvE in an FPS game, it doesn’t make sense. This game doesn’t need boss fights. This isn’t an MMO, and personally I think the whole PvE aspect of warzone is boring as hell. We never go after the spawns unless it’s needed to win.

Because not everyone likes having to fight against players in a PvP environment all the time. Some players just want to chill while blasting through hordes of Covenant and/or Promethians.

Maybe because other people have other likes and interests? I don’t understand why people want less content for a game that is already starving for content.

I’d play this game a lot more if there was match made coop.

I don’t know who asked for a PvE game mode for halo and then had it implemented in Halo 3: ODST, but please for the love of god can we ask for it again. And I mean 100% PvE. Don’t just say that Warzone is PvE when it is PvPvsometimesE.

For some weird reason, this comment made me think of perfect dark for the 64 how would could choose to have bots in the multiplayer. I don’t see how having more content is a bad thing in any way, ESPECIALLY when so many of the Halo’s before it had much more.
