I’ll repeat, 343 only considered putting them in, they didn’t do it in this update, but have stated it isn’t off the table.
What they have confirmed is they swapped to allowing levels after level 100 and giving you more points for those missing levels. They are also looking into more ways to earn points as well. This all will come later.
EAC is Easy Anti-Cheat. You have an option on PC to turn it off and use mods, one of which just unlocks all the armor for custom game use making machinima easier. It is also ironic that you say machinima on console is easier, when most prefer PC anyway just like forgers, AND you haven’t played on PC. So you don’t have any bearing on if it is better or not.
It also isn’t hard to unlock points. You don’t have to play the PVP challenges. I sit down every wednesday and just do the PVE challenges. Play 3 heroic levels or 4 Normal levels, choose the game that is needed that week, see if there are miscellaneous challenges like snipers or heavies, and you have your selection of missions to play. Then you just play it. PVP challenges are a hassle, but you have the same number of PVE, you don’t need to sweat.
And no one likes how they put everything in the exchange and we already got a tweet they are working on a way to earn the armor sooner.
No one is bullying the MCC team or you. The problem is that Infinite used the excuse of free-to-play to force cosmetic purchases into the game. And now they want to do the same to MCC, a game that you have to purchase at an upfront cost. I’m sorry to say, most of us don’t want to spend our hard-earned money on cosmetic items. If Halo 5 and Halo Infinite are any indication, we can’t trust 343 to just make Spartan points purchasable and leave all the items as is with 1 spartan point. We fear they’ll want to inflate the system as much as possible to get as much money as they can from us, for as few items as possible. And you’re actively advocating for that, knowingly or not.
On paper, lets say 100 points for $5 basically. That doesn’t seem bad, and if 343’s track record was solid, I’d be fine with purchasable spartan points. However, Halo 5 used a loot-box gambling system and there were so many duplicate items, good luck ever having a chance at getting the Nightfall or Helljumper. And in Halo Infinite they just put up a bundle for $9 that is just black for one core and some of the vehicles. Most of us don’t want to spend $9 on BLACK. Especially when there is already a free black coating. This is on top of Halo Wars 2, an already abandoned game, also had microtransactions for a single mode. So when we hear that purchasable spartan points might come to MCC, we expect the worst. Like $1 per point. That sounds extreme, but with 343, we can’t rule something like that out.
I might not have changed your mind. But all I’m saying is be careful what you wish for. Just because you’re willing to drop a bunch of money for all the cosmetics doesn’t mean we do. And history shows that if one happens, both are effected.
