How does infinite make you feel?
All opinions matter.
They matter for new players who just joined the halo community.
They matter for the players who quit playing since halo 2 or halo 3 or halo reach.
They matter for the people who played since halo 1 all the way up to halo 5.
They matter for the washed up legends who would grind halo day and night back in halo 2 learning how to double shot, learning how to super bounce, quad shot, bxr, etc. Man those were the best days.
They matter for the people who used to wait outside GameStop for hours until midnight for a Halo release.
They matter for the people who have been grinding halo 5 for the last 6 years.
They matter for us.
Without us, their would be no Halo.
So I hope our voices are loud enough.
How does infinite make you feel?
Be as brutally honest as you can be.
My opinion: To be honest I was amazed to hear how much money they were putting into the game with a production cost of 500 million dollars. The most money ever spent to produce a game in history. Including 6 years to release a game that Call of Duty can release every year. I feel 343 dropped the ball on the matchmaking and I hope it’s a bad dream we can wake up from. A lot of people are happy, a lot of people are disappointed. People who came from call of duty, apex, destiny, overwatch, etc came to try out the beta and said they love it. It’s easy to say that when they have been accustomed to the other games they have been playing and then jump on Infinite where 343 is trying so hard to make Infinite like those other games. Of course they are going to love it. Those games are not bad. They’re sick games. Sick developing. But it’s not halo. Why is the most epic video game of all time who gained its originality, and fan base through being different from the rest, being turned into another call of duty or apex or overwatch? The answer is business. Because business. Business strategies and money. It’s smart from a business aspect, but this is Halo. Don’t do this to halo.
Halo 1,2,3,reach, and 5. The best games of all time. Halo 5 was different from the rest with its Spartan abilities but the sweatiness increased even more because of as well as it exceeded in its advanced learning abilities. Challenging skill abilities that you had to practice and learn to be nasty at the game. Abilities that would have you one shot from an enemy and you can turn around and use your skill that you grinded hard to learn and you use it to defend yourself and hit a nasty reversal on the other player. Abilities to help you gain height when trying to jump to high spots on the maps. Abilities that you had to learn to run a flag faster, 5 shot perfect a player who had 3 shots ahead on you if your thrust timing was right or your strafing was right. Using certain spots on the map to clamber so you can gain power positions. Clambering Spots that had to be learned and practiced. Abilities that balanced out your chance of survival, defense, and offense. Abilities that allowed you to be in control of your own life.
I feel like we forgot these aspects of the game that made halo one of the sweatiest games out there, and focused more on a user friendly game for more money, more returns, more benefits as a company rather than happier customers. A menu that is similar to other games, scattered, boxy and complex to navigate through. An armor, skin, emblem, ranking system that can be bought now rather than earned. It’s all about money now. The feeling of grinding so hard for something and finally achieving it is so much better than the feeling of buying it right away. Building a muscle car yourself feels so much better than going and buying one that is already built. Buying one that is already built makes you lose out on the blood, sweat and tears. It makes you lose out on the emotions of failure that make you get back up and try it again. The emotion of true and real hard work and the feeling of having a sense of pride into what you worked hard for. That feeling will never go away. And when others have seen what you worked so hard for, it will develop a feeling inside them that will make them have a more sense of respect for you. I remember on halo 2 and 3 whenever you were the top level, you had a halo symbol for your rank. That shows you grinded hard for it, and that comes with a sense of pride. Nobody can take that from you. But now it’s as if you can just buy it now. Buy the skin, buy the armor, buy the rank, buy the emblem, rather than work hard for it. Where’s the integrity and dedication? Is it all about money now? I understand these other games are doing this, but this is Halo. How do we fix this to satisfy all different views and personalities of players?
Halo has forever been different from the rest. Please let’s not make it like the rest just for the returns. What happened to the original opening halo them song when loading the game or idling at the Home Screen that the whole world knows about? Why would we take that away? This is what halo is all about. What happened 343?
I am strictly speaking on the multiplayer and these are my feelings about the multiplayer and the menu navigation and animation. The campaign might be on a whole different level but we will see. I am sure not everyone will agree with me, change is good. Change is always good. But sometimes, less is more.
