The halo community reminds me of the smash community we have so many wants and needs we have Old veterans that dont want change we have new fans the really like halo now we have hardcore players(mlg etc.) and we have out normal casual gamer’s bungie fanboys 343i fanboys but we all have our difference wants and needs and we fight amongst ourselves about such things that could help halo for better of for worst but ask yourself this question has all this helped or broke the halo community because we have passed our prime ever since halo 3 sadly
please stay civil.

Ya the community has been falling apart with everyone fighting over simple things that might not even be in Halo, and not wanting stuff that makes Halo better…
The community went straight to crap when Bungie released Reach and things like sprint and armor abilities were introduced.
This is pretty much a common trend i have seen for fanbases that are big in size, based around a big franchise or have existed for a long time.
I hear that the community was crap even during Bungie’s tenure as the sole Halo developer. I wouldn’t know since I wasn’t around for Halo CE to Halo 3.
The fanbase has gotten bitter because their favorite franchise is being ruined by a greedy corporation that hired an incompetent developer who outsources it to 20 other studios instead of making a quality game on their own.
But I digress
Sincerely,
A concerned fan.
Its a franchise that spans over a decade. All of this scepticism and “I want this” “Halo need that” stuff is normal. A lot of generations who play Halo and you can’t please everyone. Its a game, stop taking it so damn seriously and you will live a happy and prosperous life.

You are right. They cannot please everyone. With that being said, they need to please the classic fanbase aka classic extremists.

Why do you think that’s the best idea?
The way I see it, appealing to the “classic” or “traditional” players will yield less profits and/or still not satisfy anyone, with the classic players arguing over aspects that are different between the first three games.
People love to group the first three games together, but they have a good bit of differences (some more subtle than others). Would the ideal “classic” Halo game have projectile weapons or hit-scan? BR or Magnum? Should it allow BXR or similar? Should it have equipment? Dual-wielding? Destructible vehicles?
The problem is that the two sides consider the other to be crabby, old -Yoinks!- or COD Kids
They believe in this so firmly that all they do is piss-fight instead of actually arguing gameplay and ignoring each sides ‘extremists’, for lack of a better term

Anything the original Bungie came up with is fine with me as they didn’t need to hire people who hated the game to create an evolved experience.
The name and progression of story will carry the game on its own.
This is the natural evolutionary process. Franchise launches. A bunch of people climb on board. There are no arguments or debates about anything because there is only the one game and no one knows anything else… they just play. Then the second title comes out. And the population starts to educate themselves about subtle differences between the generations. Then they develop opinions about which they prefer. Then the third title comes out. A much more aware and opinionated player base now starts to get more critical of the game, and of the people who play it, especially the new people who “know nothing” and are “ruining the game.” By the time the fourth title lands, the process becomes both faster and more intensive. The title has responded to criticism with change, and some players like the change, others hate it, new people don’t much care, although there are fewer of them now because there is always a higher barrier to entry with an established title. Time goes on, more titles launch, and with each new title the level of scrutiny is ratcheted up, the criticisms, visited upon even the most trivial and inconsequential aspects of the game, grow exponentially, and the levels of bitterness, vitriol, and intolerance reach epic proportions. It’s a downward spiral.
The best thing you can do is just play the game. Until some feature of it becomes a deal-breaker for you. Then move on to something else. The worst thing you can do is come to these forums and wallow in other peoples’ bile. Just don’t let it bring you down. I still meet really good and positive people in Halo 4 all the time. I send them friend requests and it completely restores my faith in the community and in people generally.
