What happend to the ancient Forerunner armor "Combat Skin" artifacts?

So what happend to all the forerunner armor suits “Combat skins”? All these other artifacts left behind, but not any of their armor suits. When they did fire the array, it would have killed all sentient life with significant biomass. So wouldn’t their armor skins drop where they died? Why is there no combat skin litter? Just looking for answers.

I do see a possible connection with reverse engineering to developing spartan armor. Have yet to see in game, how about the books or comics?

Well, the areas we have visited in the Halo games obviously were devoid of Forerunners when the rings fired, or the Sentinels removed them in the aftermath. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Chief runs into one in the new trilogy at some point.
