What Happen to MM's Population?

Sunday it seem fine but today it doesn’t seem to be half of what it normally is. I play Team Snipers a lot and usually the population is around 2100 and right now it’s under 1000. All of the playlist population are way down. If some huge game had been released today I would understand but MW3 has been out for 3 weeks now I believe.

So what’s the deal with the sudden decline?

Monday arrived.

Lot’s of people, mainly Australians and New Zealanders, are having trouble even joining a game right now. Until 343 fix their servers, the population is going to stay low.

?

It’s not their servers that is the issue, it’s your ISPs incorrectly identifying them as a spam-based service and not taking the responsibility to admit to it & fix the issue.

Though to be fair, it is also 343’s responsibility to contact these companies directly and make the formal request.

Dunno about anyone else but I’m playing the Skyrim until ZB Thursday.

But the thing is, I know plenty of people with the exact same ISP, and they can connect without fail. Where as I can only connect at a certain time. Usually at around 8:30-9 pm.

ISPs generally get their spam filtering from 3rd-party companies like Wizard IT… they can have some pretty wonky restrictions which can’t be explained in any rational way :stuck_out_tongue:

Euro gamers have too much lag, and server problems(booted mid game, banned because of disconnections, 5 mins finding a game, etc), so a lot of people just give up and stop playing halo.I guess I’ll do the same myself soon.

I think it’s because since Reach has been playing off of the Shadowrun servers for the past 48 hours.

It’s actually bugged, yesterday I was playing and the number magically dropped from 30k to 5 players within one minute and then was jumping back and forth all day.

I tweeted a 343i employee, seems like it’s just a backlash at some maintenance they did, I was still finding games just fine.

Ok , hum.So, do you have some info about MM low pop, lag and the way this could (or not) be solved? This, and the update of MM maps, is my main problem with Reach.

I told you what I know, no need to try and grab everything from me about Reach’s so called ‘problem’ in your eyes, if you want to know, personally do the research.

The population of Reach in it’s current state (showing 1-2k) is bugged and will most likely be fixed later on in the day.

Thanks ! so nice from you ;)…
Calm down, don’t get me wrong.I’m asking this because you seem to know more than I do about the current state of things.
And, about the “so called problem in my eyes”, I’m afraid that there is one.You see, some people that payed for a new game and supported it buying every DLC, and finally they are a little disapointed by not being able to play it properly, because of poor network conditions for non-US players.
I’m not blaming anyone for this, it’s just disapointing.
So, I ask.

The population is better than yesterday but still very poor considering the norm. I’m hoping that some of you are correct and it’s a bug and not the actual population. If it is the population then this is bad and a lot of things will have to change.

Several playlist will have to be removed. If they remove team snipers and anniversary I seriously don’t know how much more I will play. Here’s to hoping I don’t have to try to switch to MW3. I just don’t care for that series.

I definitely think it’s (matchmaking) having some hiccups. Playing last night it was giving me population numbers of 54 to 64 in Anniversary Squad, and I know that wasn’t true. Don’t know if there are some problems on the backend, because I’ve had some terribly laggy games with a ton of host switches.

Reach happened.
Now number 8 on most played games on Xbox Live.

Number 8 on XBL would still have a lot more than a few thousand playing I would think.

Around 75,000 at a time has become the new norm. FIFA and Skyrim are killing Reach as well. It’s been getting worse and worse since release, and apparently, CE:A didn’t help it as was hoped. In fact, the opposite reaction occured. This most likely isn’t CE:A’s fault, of course. And I don’t think the numbers are attributed to a “hiccup”. The numbers were under 100,000 even during Thanksgiving break.

Is there a place online to see the current population? Since Bungie took there’s down I can’t find one. Maybe I’m over looking the obvious.

People are playing other games?
