What happen to competitive Halo?!?!?

i posted something similar in the HCS thread but got no response from anyone, so in here for answers/ a debate about this concern.

So

What has happened to competitive Halo?!?
I mean back in when Halo was in its prime, you started with on weapon in competitive play. That was the Battle Rifle. I have no issue with the magnum, it’s great. In saying you should spawn with just the Pistol, no AR. The question is why isn’t it like that…
They’re way to many auto rifles, most maps have 2 smg’s, 2 Storm Rifles, or both sets in one map. Not to mention you have one as the new Primary which is the Assault Rifle.
People play Halo 5 like COD. Crouched in a corner playing the radar (which shouldn’t be in the HCS) waiting on someone to unknowingly walk by.
I’m watching HCS scrims and absolutely everyone relies on auto rifles, this game is built around them. It’s disgusting to me. I don’t understand what happened with the 343 Pro team.
This isn’t a rant saying I hate the game or that it’s bad. I just realized that it’s not the same. This is a rant of confusion, not understanding why they’ve got away from core things in terms of competitive Halo.
I apologize for the rant, just would like some answers as to why.

I feel like this is the best start we have had and I have been playing online since halo 3. The battle rifle start always seemed like it was to make sure you don’t use any weapons on the map. Now with that as a map weapon, I feel like I am required to get the power weapon spawn or figure out the map

Competitive halo is still here.

The BR is no longer the dominate weapon of Halo.

Halo 5 has created (IMO) the most balanced weapons in any Halo, therefore each weapon has its advantages and disadvantages.

With the Arena ranking system, things are more competitive than ever.

I don’t agree, I see most players using magnums.

The precision weapons have so much bullet magnetism it hardly matters anyway.

I think you mean “Halo 5 has created the most overpowered assemblage of weapons in any Halo, therefore each weapon is overpowered and can instantly kill.”

Have you seen the level of heat-seeking that both Needlers and Promethean weapons have? If you get caught off guard and someone puts just 1 Boltshot round into you, from however far away, you’re toast. There’s no “out-skilling” someone with a Boltshot, Needler, Suppressor, etc. anymore.

SMG’s are way too overpowered. They are essentially a faster-reloading SAW.

AR’s can kill from WAY too far away. Same for the Pistol. Most of the maps in 4v4 gametypes are unplayable because the Pistol can be used to team-shoot from literally any point in the map. You shouldn’t be able to hit someone across the whole map with a pistol…you shouldn’t. It breaks map movement, it breaks set-ups, and it breaks maps overall.

The only weapons that got significantly decreased in effectiveness are the Binary (seriously, how on earth do you get a kill with this?), the Laser (what the actual hell did they do to this weapon? It was horrible in Halo 4, but they made it even worse), and the Rocket Launcher (longest reload and fire time ever, but the SPNKR fixed that issue).

I disagree. Many times I have seen people using heat-seeking weapons being outgunned by BR and AR users.

You answered your own question in your second statement. The reason they’re killing you is because of the fact you are being caught off-guard. If they get one to two shots in before you using heat-seekers, they’ll 90% win that fight. However, a one-on-one direct engagement they have less of a chance of winning.

AR’s and SMGs (as well as any automatic weapon) can be pulse fired, which is why they can have great accuracy. Many pro players use this technique to get the most out of those weapons. Pistols also follow the same nature. If you fire them at a slower rate, each shot will be more accurate rather than pulling the trigger as fast as you can. This has been around since Halo CE and it will never change.

All I see in HCS was everyone dominating with the magnum. Not sure what OP was watching

If you were caught off guard, there’s no chance you were going to survive anyway. They already put in multiple shots before you even started firing.

All three of those weapons have a maximum range for usefulness, and even in it’s useful range, you can escape it by thrusting or seeking cover

it got laggy. Delay messed up the Aim-assit and so on…The remove of region lock killed it.

just fought my way to diamond 2 in FFA and its starting to get kindda hard, just waiting to lock to get back on so gameplay feels on point. this is too damn random.

playing Americans with .25sec latency is ridicolous, some games you just feel like a punching bag. spartan charges the "approaching sound comes after you are hit, so no time to thrust out of the way. getting meleed from 2 meters away. all the little things that just makes you go aaaaaarrrrrrrrGHGGHGHGHGGGGGH

I don’t see why people using the Assault Rifle is a bad thing, it shoots bullets and does damage like every other gun. Also competitive Halo seems more alive right now than it has in a long time.

Sounds like you need to git gud , you definately can dodge homing weapons , they only home if the reticle is on when you fire so strafing still works, as does jumping over them.

Ars have terrible range range so I haven’t a clue what you’re talking about . Rockets are still good if you get good map positioning and binary can kill once you realise you don’t need head shots

The only thing that confused me was why there was motion sensor in HCS.

All the guns are op because the Br isnt the one gun to rule them all.
I hate weapons on map, br should be the only weapon besides sniper and shotgun.
Autos can kill so theyre op
This game is nooby because people actually use diffrent guns for diffrent situations
Amidoingitright?
