If Halo 5 doesn’t reach a peak of 900k and above while maintaining that til Christmas well really Halo 4 repeat then.

true that though 900k seems excessive for 2months straight.
Good community means also splitscreen.
The forge is good to play with your friends together, in splitscreen, we’ll not have it.
H5 is a big show, it will have a lot less of what we consider halo, it will be just an fps rainbow-colored for kids.
343i want us to play ALONE at your house talking to strangers (kids whining) on the xbox live, “good community”.
Got some good ideas there. I really like the Custom Games search, and Community Forge Playlist.

If Halo 3 did it and Halo: Reach had just as much but lasted less so can Halo 5 if 343i is really trying for this hype.

i would have listed splitscreen but i know that isn’t going to happen even though i dont use that feature i do agree that it should be in the game.

With the number of games coming out in the weeks after Halo 5 I don’t see it happening. Won’t influence what I think of the game anyway

900k is a number only multiplatform games or let’s be realistic only mmorpgs can reach. Since halo isn’t multiplatform (which come on Microsoft its time to let the other platforms experience halo) and since not everyone that owns an xbox one will get halo that’s a very unrealistic number
Also playing alone at my house while muting strangers and having a full screen to play on instead of hearing voices and playing on split screens is what I prefer.
Yeah all the features listed by the OP are awesome and should be absolutely in the game

Umm pretty sure Halo 3 and Reach did just that but Halo 5 being able to achieve that is iffy. Halo 4 only achieved around 400k peak then declined rapidly and had way less than reach and currently still does.

Looked up some numbers, so yeah my bad it can be done and actually halo 4 had 1.1 million peak at once then declined

Oh, to be young and not have experienced Halo 3. It’s so sad. I hate to see it.
OP, all those things would help (hell, it’s been too long since we’ve had any of those things in any decent form), but I think the main thing is making the gameplay unique. It’s a hell of a year for gaming, but if people have a reason to play Halo 5, they’ll keep coming back. All it needs to do is provide a different itch to scratch and it’ll do decently (a consistant 500k population per day would be good enough nowadays). A lack of a fileshare, good forge or custom game search won’t make people leave the game. Getting an experience that’s similiar to other games will.

I’d like to see a source for the claims both of you made. From all population data I have, there’s no evidence that any halo game would ever have peaked at anywhere near 900,000 players. And to clarify, by “peak” I mean “peak simultaneous players”. 24 hour UU counts are a different story.

Halo 4 had 1.1 million unique users at launch (anybody who logged into the game that day), which isn’t surprising. The 400k was the peak, which means that was the most people online at any one time.

Maybe on the first day, it completely crashed and burned after several months This just shows how bad it became.
Graph one then Graph Two some sites don’t work since they have abandoned them so there’s more you just gotta look. This apparently aren’t graphs since the release of each game but comparing both games a year after release of Halo:Reach. Graph Three compares Halo 2 launch and Halo 3. If there was more evidence to provide I would search for it I’m just super sleepy right now.
I don’t think H5 will have or maintain a large online community anymore. Between the damage from MCC and a lot more competition it just isn’t going to happen.
