I remember a Friday night getting on my Xbox 360 ready to knock on Halo 3’s door with a warm welcome and more than 10 friends to play with. Between the community utilizing forge and creating amazing games such as Jenga or Saw and even monster trucks there was always something to do. Over the last few years I haven’t seen large groups of players coming together to create and have some good laughs, it used to be easy to meet people in matchmaking and now it just hasn’t been the same. Will Halo 5 break this streak or just be another game for the shelf?
Hopefully they can pull it off. I used to love seeing all the cool loopholes people were able to manage in forge. I think nowadays people are too focused on competitive multiplayer than to spend endless hours on forge making cool stuff. I’ve been thinking about this for a while now, but wouldn’t it be cool if 343i could create a matchmaking section specifically for user-created maps/game modes? Each player gets one “turn” to be the host for a game, then the host is switched to another player. if that player doesn’t want to host, they can pass and all the players can vote on who they want to host the next game. Probably asking for too much, though.
Sounds a lot like using popular maps made from the community, H3 did it for a while.
