What halo was to me

Halo was a game that rewarded me for skillful plays. It was a game that mixed tense moments with all out insanity to just keep the other team from pushing into your base and setting up. It is no longer those things for a variety of reasons from Sprint to AA’s, perks, ordinances, poor map design, gigantic maps, instant respawn, poor UI, and for me it finally doesn’t feel anything like halo anymore. I don’t know what it feels like but it doesn’t have that magic because of all of the extra sludge weighing down on the magic the series used to contain.

I understand many people love halo 4 and that is fantastic, but to me this game doesn’t belong in the halo series.

The moment sprint was introduced in halo reach, it was the beginning of the end. Sprint forced map designers to build enormous maps and dumb down game play. AA’s should never have come into halo. These things belong in COD and is what made halo a huge success, adding them did not enhance the game, it killed the fun uniqueness that was halo in my opinion. Halocharts shows the rapid decline in population so I don’t believe this is just my opinion.

I know these things will never be removed again to return to halo’s roots at 1,2, and 3 but I just wanted to know if there were others out there that felt this way.

Trust me you are not alone. I think most people who can look past the name Halo feel the same way.

Cool, just checking…Has 343 ever addressed this viewpoint on the direction they took the halo series or said anything in the forums about going back more to halo’s roots with the TU or Halo 5?

Take a look at THIS THREAD HERE.

I promise you, you’ll enjoy what you read.

Yeah, admittedly I’m an old MLG kid who went to tournaments during halo 2 and 3 but I love halo on a casual level also and do not think casuals are idiots or their opinion is any less valid. I have to preface that or I’ll get flamed I’m sure.

I just think 343 didn’t understand that they would NOT have sold any fewer games had they stuck to what halo is instead of becoming a poor copy with no X factor. With Halo Reach being so terrible imo, it’s weird that they thought just piling on more and more random stuff would some how make the game amazing. People enjoy a challenge, just go that direction, don’t make a COD.

Halo 3 nailed it for all types of players. I know a fair few complete casuals in real life and they all find halo 3 more fun than halo 4 (or reach)
