what halo did you start with?
Combat Evolved
I’m a Halo 2 kid.
I started off watching my brother play CE and then I jumped in on Halo 2 but I did not have Xbox live.
I got Xbox live when I was old enough to play M rated games during Halo 3.
CE. those were the good old days for sure.
Campaign - CE
Online MP - H3
CE
Combat Evolved for PC. Both campaign and multiplayer. I was only into CTF but did slayer types when I got bored. Those were the days. Because I never played 2 or 3 online the transition hasn’t been easy. I find the combat was generally more satisfying when you could drive a vehicle while holding a flag, or survive banshee bombs/rockets at mid to close range.
CE
The second installment of that Halo franchise.
My first Halo game was Halo 2, but I didn’t have Xbox Live until Halo 3.

Combat Evolved
Campaign - CE
Multiplayer - CE lan. Back when cat 5 was still £1 a meter :<
XBL multiplayer - Nov 9 2004 OG.
Campaign - Halo CE
Offline multiplayer - Halo CE
Online multiplayer - Halo 2
Firefight - Halo 3 ODST
Combat Evolved for Campaign.
Late Halo 3/Reach for Multiplayer.
HALO: REACH
That’s my first and I’m glad, I think the campaign in CE sucks…
Reach and late to it - but turned around and bought CE, 3 and ODST.
Halo CE.
Didn’t play XBL until the last year of Halo 2 which was when I got my 360.
CE on PC. I played plenty of TimeSplitters, and it took awhile for me to give Halo a chance. I ended up playing the campaign in 2005, and found it horrendously dated in terms of level design and length. I still find Assault on the Control Room an unplayable slog on any difficulty higher than Normal, and I refuse to play through it any other way besides jumping down the cliff at the beginning.
I got to The Maw and quit. I didn’t realize I was at the end of the game, but yeah, I quit in the first half.
Years later, I got Reach at launch with friends and adored it. The campaign’s level design is incredible and the multiplayer evolved enough over previous iterations to warrant my full attention. After completing my first Mythic run, I went back and played through…
Halo 3 - Which I liked, despite the short campaign
Halo 2 - Which I think has a terrible campaign with poor level design, unbalanced difficulty, and schlocky visual style (but a great soundtrack)
Halo CEA - I still think the campaign is dated, but I appreciate it a bit more now than I did 7 years ago. AotCR is still boring. On the other hand, I actually like The Library now that I can beat it in 30 minutes.
Halo: ODST - Why more Halo fans didn’t love this game boggles my mind. You guys are hard to figure out sometimes. One of the best soundtracks this console generation, a great visual style, a cool story…this might be my favorite Halo game.
So yes, I am a new Halo fan, thanks to Reach.
