What Halo can learn from Battlefront 2

This is a one of a series of threads I’m going to make to showcase some ideas Halo could take from other popular games.

Battlefront 2 (Some of the most asked for features are from here!)-

Space Battles- I think this would be a cool idea. If you have played Star Wars Battlefront 2, you know what I am talking about. However, we can’t play as elites. So here’s my solution. Maybe, the actual players are all on one team as the UNSC, the other team, the Covenant. It’s like a Co-Op mission; except you have a team with as many players as both teams in BTB rather than just 2-4 players. So basically, you start out, and can go get in a ship or control a turret on top of your frigate. You have to board and destroy certain parts of the Covenant ship, and cripple it’s outer defenses. I can’t really flush out all of the details, due to the character limit, but that’s the basic idea.

Hero Battles (I think that’s what it’s called)- Imagine a Team Slayer battle between all of the greatest heroes of the UNSC and all the greatest heroes of the Covenant. The ODST team from Halo 3 ODST, the Master Chief, Sergeant Johnson, some Halo 4 main characters, and others versus Brute Chief Tarturas, multiple Arbiters (Including Thel Vadam!), and others. There would have to be a level playing field, for example, they would all have to have the same health and start with the same weapons. At least, all the UNSC should start with DMR and Covenant should start with Carbines. It would be exactly like normal Team Slayer, but with different skins of famous characters rather than the customized Spartan. So I will do my match. I start, and of course choose the Master Chief before my other teammates can pick him. I start with the BR and sprint out of the spawn point. I come upon Buck being pinned down by the Arbiter from Halo Wars. I toss a frag, and headshot him once his shields are down. I then find a Spartan laser. Over the hill ahead, Tarturas and Thel come barreling toward me in a Warthog. I stand my ground and laser them down as they attempt to splatter me. The smoke clears, and I am left tea bagging Vadamee. The end. Seriously though, make it happen 343.

AI alongside Player- I feel like being able to order around AI is awesome. My final suggestion would be a mode where you are in charge of a squad of troops. It would be a four player gametype. Each Spartan has a squad of soldiers; the player and each squad member each have one life. You can customize the loadouts of your squad, as well as their type (ODST, Halo 3 Marine, Reach Marine, etc… No type would be different except for aesthetic), and name them. The squad would have their own leveling system. The squads must either fight a Covenant equivalent, or do Spartan Ops style missions. You can tell your squadmates where to go, how to act (aggressive, defensive, etc.) or which weapons to use, that kind of stuff. It’s basically like controlling units in a strategy game except from FP view. Now I will describe a game. I begin in the lobby by checking out the mission types. One is a defend- the-fort kind of mission. I decide to do that. In the loadout screen, I set up my marines. Their loadouts are different. I can only choose the weapons and grenade, considering they do not have Mjolnir armor to modify. I set up one with a DMR, one with a battle rifle, and one with an assault rifle, all have Magnums as secondary and frag grenades. We start the mission. I set the DMR marine up high in the base, the battle rifle man to follow me, and the assault rifle marine behind cover at the entrance we spawn in front of. I move out of the entrance and check out the opposition. It is only me and another player, this mission is designed for only two squads. He sets up in a similar fashion. The Covenant attack, we repel them, etc. If a marine dies, he is gone, I will have to design a whole new marine after the game. Overall, I think it would be an awesome addition to Halo, and a ton of fun!

Those are all the ideas I would have from Battlefront 2. What do you guys think?

I know, it’s a long post, here’s a cookie (::slight_smile:

The great walll…nevermind sorry I couldnt get zny of that…halo cant learn znything from bf2 sorry.

I really don’t think Halo 4 could learn from this old game. Just my opinion though.

Did you even read the post? Or did you give up because it’s to long, I would too, don’t worry! :stuck_out_tongue:

For Multiplayer I 10000000000000000000000000% agree with it Single play just no.

I read most of it, and I’ve already played the hell out of this game. I think Halo should not be like this game, just like it isn’t like bf2 now. Bf2 was a good game, but that’s because it was it’s own game with it’s own playstyle, just like Halo.

Ya, I just like the idea, of say, a hero battle between all the Halo characters, or being able to control your marines and ODST’s stuff like that.

What would be different about the hero game though? Would it just be like normal slayer, or would everyone be over super powered? I don’t see this making very good Halo gameplay. As for singleplayer I see it working even more terribly, it’s a good idea, I just don’t think Halo would be a good game to implement this stuff in.

Ya, I just was thinking of cool ideas, that one was kind of a joke, I was more serious about the space battles and marine control ones.

They should just make a Halo Battlefront type game. It would be awesome!

I’d expect to see much larger scale in Halo 5 on next gen consoles.

Want to know something exciting?
When Pandemic Studios shut down (Battlefront devs), a large chunk of them migrated to 343 Industries!

Your wish is much more realistic than you think!

Sweet, I didn’t know that!

I do like the space battles idea though, but they should just make it like the Tip of the Spear mission only more updated.
