what halo 5 should be

For halo 5 to be better than halo 4 it needs to go back to the arena style gamplay that it started with. This is not very hard to do. First off one reason halo is so far off its path now is because of ordinance… this should be completely removed in halo 5. Another issue is aa’s, but don’t remove them completely because they can be useful and become strategic if you place them on the map and tailor them specifically where their placed for each map. That way they become pick ups to return to the old halo style were all familiar with.

There’s certain aa’s that should be kept but others completely removed. Such as jet pack or nerf it more than what it is now. Also remove the shield and bring back bubble shield as it creates close quarter combat something h4 lacks.

The next thing is loadouts. There not a terrible idea, but its not really halo. So what you can do is tamper them down a bit. Instead of spawning with aa’s and tactical packages. You would just spawn with a primary rifle such as dmr, br, lr, carbine assault rifle. This way we don’t have a problem with only spawning with a ar and someone has a br like in h3 as this is where your at a disadvantage. Instead everyone will be off at a more even footing with a similar primary weapon kinda like h4 with the exception of aa’s.

So far what I mentioned is returning back to the arena style game play of old. halo 5 needs to go back to its roots in order to be successful in the next few years with a few innovative ideas to keep it fresh, but nothing drastic like it was in reach and h4.

Its pretty obvious halo is dying coinsidering the population. I’m asking you 343i to bring back the spark halo once had, most ppl recognize Where halo went wrong, what boggles my mind is how the guys at 343 didnt learn from there mistakes from reach ?? I cannot stress it enough halo NEEDS to return to its old formula which is not very hard to do IMO. Instead of copying elements from COD which clearly doesn’t work. Which was a terrible decision to make because now you are losing your loyal halo fans that stay with you for years…

This is about to be moved to general discussion most likely btw

And the only thing I want for H5 are interactive, interesting maps, bungie had fun with theirs and added the coolest objects you could blow up, or interact with to make a wall open/door, open another path, and remember the elephant? god that message made me laugh for half an hour, love stuff like that

I agree I miss the small unique close quarter maps as well, which bungie had many of them. Something h4 lacks.

I will respectfully decline that view.If halo 5 takes 3 steps back i will shoot myself(not literally) or i will give up on halo and just get it when its at $15 for the story(which wont take long).

A Halo game centered around playing as a Grunt would be 150% more interesting than what you have proposed, and that is a personal opinion i hope is shared throughout 343.

Evolution is sometimes necessary for survival.

You are clearly wrong… halo needs to go back in order to go forward. The population says it all !!! Its fact. H3 h2 had the best population did those games suffer like h4?? No not in anyway come back when you’ve played a real halo game, not reach…

No they didn’t stop pulling numbers out your butt.

Moving backwards only pleases Halo fans who have nostalgia glasses on (which you do). Arena shooters aren’t popular any more, it’s a fact. People didn’t lose interest in halo because ODST and Reach weren’t good games, but because the idea of being an arena shooter was becoming bland.

Indeed. When you get right down to it Halo made it’s mark by being the most organic shooter on the market. However it wasn’t ever really able to live up to that potential because the community has always had other, more self-serving, ideas about just what made Halo so great (ex. Us scream the comptetitive community.) Things like alternate pathways and more interactive maps were there, but they weren’t really all that prominent and the last two games just about pruned all that content away in favor of a much more consistent multiplayer experience.

But that’s the potential of 343’s Halo, to finally give us the really organic shooter that Halo was always trying to be but couldn’t because it was at every turn (after Halo 1) being forced to fill in for Unreal Tournament on the xbox. I think more involving levels are just a start, but it still would be fantastic to see more Mammoths in Halo 4’s future.

Bland? What other modern FPS is an arena-style shooter?

Arena shooters aren’t popular anymore. Most games are more class based. Yes this is true, and it doenst really have to do with the fact that i have nostalgia. But halo was once really popular. No one will deny that. When it was really popular was it ever class based ? NO!! it wasnt it was an arena shooter… it doesn’t matter if class base is more popular now. The problem is a class shooter can’t become an arena shooter. And an arena shooter can’t become a class based shooter. Vice versa It doenst work they are completely different games. A similar analogy is let’s try and change the rules of basketball with the rules of soccer the two clearly don’t go together. Halo didn’t need to be modernized with class based shooters. it needed to be improved on what it already was…which was an area a shooter !!

They arent bland?? in fact we need more arena shooters something the fps market lacks…because everything is class based now because of cod.
