I’m being friendly and not rude in this whole topic just to set the tone that does not exist in typing unless stated. I’ve been playing Halo since day one. Its the only reason why I picked up a Xbox. Over the years media and internet have become a power house for praise and leading a witch hunt for game developers. When FPS came to console it was thought as a complete joke. I’ve owned a PC and I’ve played PC FPS games. That’s how I started with FPS. DOOM was my first experience in this world of bullets, guns and one arm on the screen. Halo came out and all I heard ( with real people, not the net ) PC wannabe shooter, DOOM bitters and if its not iD then it’s garbage. Halo CE was fun for me and campaign was fun as well. Halo 2 launches and hear praise and people leading a witch hunt because you’re able to be an Elite in campaign. People loved it and some people purely hated the fact campaign was split in two perspectives. Again, the internet was not was it was then like now so again I hear mixed emotions of how Bungie thought less John Spartan 117 The Master Chief was a good idea/ WTF are they doing to Halo! Some people were cool with the idea of being the Elite and some people raged over it. Campaign felt shorter since it was split, campaign felt more in-depth since it was split. Then came Xbox Live and all that complaining, moaning, crying just washed away. Microsoft was praised for bringing console gaming online and what better way to do it with Halo. PC owners killed that bubble of joy and still do to this day because they game online for free. Well I say this being a PC gamer at one point “Microsoft owns a hell of a lot of servers and that take cash to maintain.” That will be a never ending debate but then again I don’t mind paying for a service that provides a service. Halo goes online and fans are just happy to defeat each other online and talk smack while doing it. Bungie releases Halo 3, the final installment! Finish the fight! The internet has matured some what at this point. Again I hear praise and those pesky witch hunters are getting the fire ready for the roast! Online multiplayer is at a all time high since Halo 2. Radar complaints went up and others defended it. Some players felt ignored by Bungie about issues like radar, op weapons, your campaign sucked, Cortana barely in the game, no boss fights, grave mind was a waste, the ending is like Halo CE where you have to escape ( spoiler alert if you’re new and you’re late if that spoiler spoiled you ) and praise of the campaign being awesome. Im completely surprised of this love/hate relationship Halo has earned over its time out in the wild. Star Wars fans have rights to complain and lead a witch hunt when George Lucas came out with episodes 1,2 and 3. That was painful to watch and disappointing. Halo 3 is out and marks the end of John, Cortana and this war. Some fans rage about who are the forerunners and why did Bungie not give more insight in game about them and their purpose. Where was our highly anticipated boss fight with the flood alpha?! Why kill off Johnson? Oh the death came with such bad funeral tears and rage. Bungie explains death is real and heroes give their lives for a greater good and the game lacked sacrifice. Again, fans raged over plot and direction. Some say read the books to expand your love for Halo. Some said “read?” I’m good, I just want to shoot stuff and watch cool cinematic cut scenes fill in the story. Then we get Halo 3 ODST from Bungie and Microsoft. An expansion to Halo 3 that turned into a full game. No Master Chief or Cortana, just a spin off on the ODST and what took place on Earth while John, Cortana and the UNSC fought the war in space. That game did well for itself but again mix of emotions for multiplayer and campaign. Some loved multiplayer and some felt Bungie took a lazy approach of not refreshing multiplayer even though fire fight was a new game mode to experience the witch hunt marched forward. ODST is a great game to experience with a whole new campaign that was refreshing and fire fight was tons of fun but some still complained about fighting A.I. and wanted a better multiplayer experience. Bungie moves forward with a prequel titled Halo Reach. A whole new experience with six Spartans fighting that same war. Again the praise comes but this time where did our witch hunters go? Did they lose internet connection? Did they forget how to complain? No Master Chief til the very end of campaign as a Easter egg! Cortana makes the story as well but barley and yet all the celebration just pops off like new years eve. Best multiplayer experience since Halo 2. Great ranking system, population counter, weapons are fun, radar still sucks/great to use and Halo fans unite in joy. 343 Industries did the multiplayer map packs for expansion and the praise they received for making cool fun maps to kill each other. 343 Industries with Microsoft launch Halo CE remastered and the praise shot through the roof and the internet was happy! Even with some changes to update multiplayer and add-ons to the story and we are happy! More Halo even though we played and beat this game already but now we can do it in 3D. We want a Halo 2 remastered and Bungie at this time are self owned, no longer in association with Microsoft and we as Halo fans are doing better than we thought. Halo 4 kicks off and the internet is a force that will make you or break you. Halo 4 is loved and hated. Multiplayer gets mix of emotions from the community. Best multiplayer experience/ what the hell did you guys do to multiplayer. Halo 3 or Reach was way better. Campaign was epic with gameplay and visuals of the best looking Halo to date. Story was deep and wait a minute, Master Chief has a bit of personality and expresses an emotion. Some loved this and some hated it. Spartan Ops is like fire fight but with a story attached to it for no additional cost and the community embraced it and some tore it to shreds. Then the Master Chief Collection arrives and yes it shipped broken. An attempt to make all Halo game titles minus Reach went south due to insufficient bug testing. It hurt me, us and the community. We where gonna get four Halo games individually in a big box. Then an idea came for a single disc with a new U.I. Great idea but not tested enough and then released. That’s Microsofts fail shared with 343 Industries. Deadlines are deadlines but a delay is more appropriate. A apologie is made for this but some of us just cannot forgive and move forward. Here we are present day with Halo 5 Guardians. 343 Industries/ Microsoft Studios release this game and boom!!! Witch hunters find their internet connection, remembered how to complain and rage! Tear this game apart before it has a chance in the wild. Worst Halo ever! Split campaign again! Less Master Chief! What happened rageful witch hunters? No MC in Halo 3 ODST, no MC in Halo Reach ( my bad MC was an Easter egg at the end ) and you played the hell out of those Halo’s. The community wanted more “Halo” and here we are with more 'Halo" but I can see a fire buring from my house with the hate. What Halo do you witch hunters want to play over and over again? It seems you want the same Halo released over and over again but with new graphics to keep up with technology. Change is not fun for some of us but change ensures improvement people. You witch hunters wanted more Halo and here it is. More new Halo and we still get a Halo 6.
