As we know, Halo 5 is going to have micro transactions. Micro transactions in many games speed up a grinding process and are often times almost entirely needed to progress, except in a few games, one of which is Fallout Shelter. In Fallout Shelter, the micro transactions are not needed to enjoy the game at all, like in games such as clash of clans. GTA V is also guilty of using micro transactions in a wrong way since its so annoying to get money in online(then again maybe spending 100 dollars in that game wasn’t worth it D:). Will getting req packs in Halo 5 be a grind like getting supply drops in aw is. In Fallout Shelter, you know when you will get a lunchbox due to the challenges. When you level up in Halo 5 you get a req pack, but what happens when you get to the level cap? 343 says that you can earn req packs just by playing, but how large of a grind will it be? Halo 5, learn from the mistakes of gta v and as and take notes from Fallout shelter.
We haven’t seen how h5 micro transactions work, so your assuming it would be worse before you have used it.
Yeah, hopefully they pull off REQ packs in a smart, responsible way.

I’m not assuming, I just hope they aren’t going to be bad… Fallout shelter is just a good example of how to do micro transactions.
I don’t think any of us know how that will be deployed until we see it. It sounds as if 343 intends for purchasable req packs to not be a necessity to get the right stuff in the game, but we’ll have to get some experience with it first.
Those games are irrelevant, you need to grind to get things for actual gameplay. Halo is just cosmetic
from what I read and how I interpret it, the micro transactions are entirely optional, everything you can get from them is the same as you can get for free by playing the game. So the only advantage of them is not having to wait. Cosmetic items such as armour or weapon skins are permanent unlocks, weapon variants are also permanent I believe, but power weapon unlocks are one use only. I may be wrong so don’t take this as fact, but I’m 95% sure I’m right
I would not compare phone games, they are made for sucking your money.
Games like Dead Space 3, Forza Horzion 2 and Mortal Kombat X have mircotransactions but you don’t need to buy any of them at all really. Those games are completely fine the way they handled them. Of course that is not saying that every AAA game has decent microtransactions but I see the greedy kind a lot less for AAA titles vs. phones.
That is a cringeworthy title. No, I don’t think we should look for lessons to be learned from a free to play mobile game that is designed on a hurry up and wait model.
The game should be like PvZ. You get sticker packs at a good rate but you can also buy them. IMO the ones you buy should only contain cosmetic stuff, but that’s just me.
At the end of the day, 343 has shown that they care about the fan base. They could have easily delivered just H2A and instead gave us 4 games. They could have easily not give us free maps for DLC.
Remember that non-cosmetic items are a one-time-use only, so don’t get too excited over getting them. As for the cosmetics, I really hope it doesn’t turn into a grind. We know that the microtransactions are harmless, so that’s good.

Why are you comparing a full $80 ($60 American) AAA console title to a free to play, cheaply made phone game? Micro transactions or not that is still a stupid comparison.

OP is just saying “please incorporate these new microtransactions responsibly” basically. Uses an example of what OP feels is responsible, no need for you to call it a stupid comparison. I’m sure we all want the microtransactions to be responsibly implemented into H5.
Is H5 going to be a f2p mmo?
If so, I’m okay with microtransactions.
Judging by the way the Halo guys balanced previous earnables, I’d say it will be somewhat grindy but not in the worst way. What you do will earn you points. Dedicated hardcore players will max out and get almost everything permanent eventually I’d even say within 2 months. The more casual players may never see the end, but have the opportunity to gamble for some stuff they may want. Either way, I’m sure they will do well enough, honestly I don’t give a crap about the req packs unless they are hiding some armour I really want. If anything will make me spend cash it will be Campaign /side story DLC. Then again I don’t even have money to preorder the game so… shrug
From what we’ve been told I would assume that the REQ cards are just unlocking alternate skins for weapons and armors aswell as Legendary weapons. Nothing you need to play the game, just a little extra on top
A grind to make money on GTA Online? No, no it’s not. All you got to do is play the game and you’ll make money relativity easy. Besides, what ever happened to the days of gaming where you earn your -Yoink-.
