What Halo 4 needs from Halo 3

I have a few suggestions that Halo 4 could take from Halo 3.

  1. the ranking systems of Halo 3. The skill of each playlist should be shown to the right of your gamertag, or on it. That would include both SOCIAL skill rankings and COMPETATIVE skill rankings. The social ranks would be from Private to General. And the competitive would be the much loved 1-50. No more Iron to Onyx garbage. If you look at the numbers, the Arena players were far outnumbered by Competitive players in Halo 3. But I can’t stress enough that we need to see the rank of each player.
  2. Some weapons need to be brought back from Halo 3. Some are Flamethrower, Missile Pod, Bubble shield, etc.
  3. Awesome updated maps like The Pit and Guardian
  4. Hayubusa Armor, including the Katana.
  5. New armor effects (I’m aware that’s Halo Reach, but just throwing that out there).
  6. bring back Lonewolves, no Regicide garbage where everyone just rushes the king. Multi team too.
  7. make Lonewolves, team slayer (not infinity), snipers, and swat true skill competitive playlists.
I’m sure there is much more, so feel free to add on by commenting…

Duel wielding. god i miss that

yes higher dominion score

Definitely needs dedicated servers. The ones in H4 suck.

I’m a Bolt Shot voter. That should be the number two weapon to be modified. Number one is the DMR (it’s too generous with headshots, curb it’s magnetism/aim assist and it would be perfect… and I wouldn’t feel guilty for employing it in the future).

The bolt shot is on the top of my target list. I used to avoid using it, but I’ve since taken to keeping it on me to fight off those who might use it against me.

This is followed by a RoF nerf on the DMR. It is physically impossible for the carbine to go head to head against the DMR and win when starting at the same time (roughly) and both landing every shot. Every time I have one of those matchups where we’re both perfect, I get beat by the weapon before the person beats me, and that shouldn’t happen. Only being able to land 7 of 8 shots because the DMR shoots fast is excessively frustrating, and does not represent skillful play at all.

Speaking of the Carbine, this weapon needs a boost in accuracy. Due to it’s rate of fire, it is most negatively effected by the flinch mechanic. Couple that with it’s relatively large reticule and you’ve got a weapon that is often times going to miss a shot or two. Seeing as this most negatively effects this weapon, I believe that the base accuracy for the carbine should be increased to compensate for all of these adverse outside effects.

jump height
flashlight (I’m stuck with a crap camcorder. This’d make my day)
gravity hammer (RIP box launching)
scenery objects (except for the Covie supply case. Reach had the best iteration)
vehicles (except for the Shade and Prowler. CE has the best iteration of the Shade)

Halo 4 needs Covenant maps. All we have is Forerunner and UNSC maps.

I liked the 1-50 system but nothing else.

Dual Boltshots, that’s the first thing I thought about when you said that.

I agree with all points besides 4, 5, 8, and 9. Armor effects, in my opinion, were gimmicky and stupid, Guardian and The Pit can be forged accurately and easily, so there’s no need to waste any sort of DLC on bringing them back, more specializations would require more armor, which is impossible to add, and more gameplay-altering packages, which would be really tough to balance post-launch. Finally, though dedicated servers would help the game, I barely ever run into lag problems, and 343 has made it clear that they won’t be using them for Halo 4, though they said something about exploring that possibility in the future.

Definitely no to 2-50. Especially Halo 3’s. I’d rather have Halo 2’s version. At least that one made it so that the only thing keeping a player down is another player only.

The arena shooter gameplay

I take back ever wanting duel wielding to return.
