Music influences how we play, the halo theme from h1, 2, and 3 made us feel like jumping into a pile of covenant while locke’s theme or h5’s theme was, meh. The gameplay the effects and music trifecta made halo legendary. I mean h2’s high chairity suite really sets the mood of the brute’s betrayal. H3 ODST made it feel eerie and stealthy. Reach made it feel like yiu were defending a planet, taking as many covies as you can with you. Like when a guardian awakens or when cortana is trying to destroy the world that song doesn’t fit the mood. It suites Locke but it doesn’t suit the game.This guy says it best (yes I know this is starwars but the same applies for halo)
Disagree. H5 music was fine, much better than h4. I’ll add the music doesn’t change how I play or act, it’s just something to listen to but I block it out a lot of the time when I’m in a party with people. I think h1-3 soundtrack was the best, but still not a big deal to me. I didn’t even know odst had soundtrack cuz I don’t remember anything from that game. (Probably cuz it was my least favorite till h5 campaign launched).

Halo 5 soundtrack was great… I really like the tracks in it including advent.
I personally feel that ODST had the best sound in the series. I’m almost glad that the 360 was too crappy for dynamic weather because the music that was composed to give those feelings instead were just so masterfully crafted.
The soundtracks for Halo 4 and Halo 5 are largely forgettable. Maybe two or three notable songs to them max.
Songs like Peril were unique, original, atmospheric.
Most of the songs I hear from these soundtracks just sound like generic movie scores to me.
The OST for the first three games was in a completely different league. Even other games like Dark Souls are in a completely different league. I genuinely feel the praise is undeserved.

The original trilogy, ODST, and Reach all had great tracks that really made the battles feel epic. They gave the games a sense of grand scale. Then Halo 4 came around and it’s soundtrack was pure garbage. I feel Halo 5 had a slightly better soundtrack than Halo 4, mostly because they incorporated some of the original Halo theme.
Honestly I think all they need to do to make epic tracks again is to just incorporate more of the original music. Take samples from CE-Reach and Halo will be back and better than ever, at least on the music side of things. Still got a long way to go as far as gameplay, art design/style, and story goes.
About 80-90% of Halo 3’s soundtrack was just remixed music from Halo: CE and Halo 2. Halo 5’s music is some of the best in the series. Kazuma Jinnouchi has a much better feel for the music of Halo than Neil Davidge ever did. Halo: ODST still has the best music hands down. If I had to rank them I would go in this order:
Halo: ODST
Halo 2
Halo: CE
Halo 5
Halo 3
Halo Wars
Halo 4
Halo: Reach
Sorry. Reach to me was the weakest in the entire series. It always felt like it never found its character and to me the music sounded like Marty was sick of doing Halo music at that point.
H5’s soundtrack is somewhere in the middle for me in the series. ODST is my favourite and H4 my least favourite.
Halo Reach, 5, and CE have the best soundtracks imo.
CE, 3, ODST and Reach have the best music in my opinion. 3 and ODST give a sense of mystery and guile, whereas CE, and Reach are epic and powerful.
I think Halo 5 has the best soundtrack of the entire franchise, with Halo 2 just behind it. I absolutely love every song in Halo 5
I enjoyed h5s soundtrack especially Blue Team and The Trials.
You mean the soundtrack that just took previous pieces from CE & 2 and only had like three original track pieces? Yeah no, give me Halo 5’s soundtrack any day. If I wanted a classic soundtrack I’d go for Halo 2’s.

It sort of is, but it isn’t as amazing as it was in the originals. Don’t ask me why.
