What gametypes to keep/scrape/create?

The question is pretty self-explanatory. What gametypes would you like to see make a return, which ones should be scraped, and what is an idea that you would like to add to a pre-existing one or an idea for a completely brand-new gametype.

NOTE: Feel free to make your idea a completely new mode. (E.g. Flood Survival)

-Assault

-CTF/Flagnum CTF

-Infection & Flood

-Slayer

-Territories

-Dominion

-Invasion (Add more objective types to it for a more variatized selection of maps.)

-Race

-VIP (I never cared at all for it, but I know people who did.)

-One Flag CTF

-One Bomb Assualt

-Extraction

-Oddball (Variants for throwing and non-throwing)

-KoTH (Add weapon drops to the king who completely dominates the hill.)

-Regicide

-Basic Editing (Lol i dun kno y i put dis heer)

-Mega Team Battle (BTB utilizing big vehicles such as pelicans, vultures, etc. and fully taking advantage of the maximum amount of players that the XB1 can port which is supposedly 32)

NEW MODE: Onslaught

Onslaught throws you into a hive of flood which you have to survive an infinite amount of time in until you inevitably die. Given an environment that is completely infected, you must salvage what you can from the remnants of what once was to top the leaderboards with your friends or the world. At each boss wave bigger tougher forms of the infection are released that will require cunning to beat.

NEW/OLD MODE: Firefight 3.0

Similar to past firefight experiences, you are given 7 lives to start off with and the waves of Covenant are infinite (or not depending on how you customize your game). You will be able to customize the enemy types just as in Reach, but you will have a special set of personal Loadouts allowed to you just for this gametype that allow you to conquer the Covenant your way. These loadouts can be disabled in the game settings if they are not desired, and the last new addition this iteration of the gametype brings are new map dynamics, allowing for the player to trigger the map to behave certain ways, such as disabling key points that the A.I. might use to overcome you for periods of time, or blowing up a part of the map to prevent it form being used again only to open up a new part of the map complete with it’s own difficulties on top of that.

Scrap? No no no. Just cos you don’t like/play a gametype or even the majority, doesn’t mean you should get rid of em. If people like to play it then they can in customs. Keep em all.

As for new gametypes…
Hopefully we will be able to fully make our own. If you think about it there’s not much difference between CTF and assault. In one you’re sending an object to the teams base in the other, you’re sending it to your own base. The object itself makes no difference, its just nice to have an authentic prop.

Same goes with slayer, infection (a two way infection would be nice - a tug of war), juggernaut, VIP, FFA which are just all slight variants of getting the most kills.

Then we have KOTH, Territories, race Dominion and to some extent headhunter which are about holding your ground and defending it (except race).

And Invasion is just three/4? objectives in a row.

The truly fun and unique (and not so authentic) are found in customs and action sack, which are just variants of these, distorted to keep the game fresh.

At the end of the day, there’s only really 3 gametypes, the rest are variants.


So what gametypes you say?

Well, I would still like these ones that were mentioned to still be on the disc as default, but i refer you to my previous comment: The truly fun and unique (and not so authentic) are found in customs and action sack, which are just variants of these, distorted to keep the game fresh..

I would like to set a specific objective, edit the means in which the player/team has to reach/complete the objective and any other factors which influence the game.

I’d make a list but you already posted it for me. As for the new gametypes, I’m not creative I’ll let the others do that. You’re idea are very cool though.

Firstly, NO GAME TYPES SHOULD BE REMOVED BECAUSE NO ONE LIKES IT.

It sounds like a forge based gametype, not a normal MP gametype.

Tho yes Xbox One most likely can handle 32 players, doesn’t mean Halo is going to pick up a 32 player cap, mostly because of one main thing. MAP SIZE, Halo’s biggest maps are just barely big enough to handle 10vs10, and I really don’t see a lot of people playing on maps that are designed for 32 players, mostly because the growing trend these days in Halo and other games is everyone wants smaller maps, mostly because they don’t like the idea of playing on maps where snipers have the advantage, and you have to walk to find everyone.

I can rattle off a list of reasons why I believe people hate big maps, but I’m not, mostly because it’s my opinion.

Scrap dominion as it’s own thing. Make it a variant of Invasion.

Agreed, plus revert it back to Halo CE’s race, it was awesome, ever have a foot race? It’s fun, and challenging race, and if you allow players to either walk/run or drive/ride, it adds a fun element to race. Imagine you’re in a race match, a large map, with many different paths, and different ways to get through the race, and put two or three vehicles on the map. Like say an ATV, Hog, and Tank, you got options on how to get through the race the fastest, but you also have to worry about who has the tank, who has the ATV, who has the Hog, and who is just running through the course with a rocket launcher and/or Spartan Laser.

I don’t necessarily want to see gametypes scrapped, only improved upon :smiley:

Although, Regicide never really lived up to the name…

And Firefight >>> SpOps…

And Action Sack should be a playlist which includes lots of oldies but goodies.

The two main things I want back are Halo 3’s Infection and Territories. I’ve never had a firefight in Dominion that matched any variant of Territories in intensity or contest.

I think Dominion is a too forgiving gametype in Halo.

Fair point on Terries, but I did immensely enjoy Dominion. I think there is great potential for a Dominion/Terries/Invasion combo playlist. But lord knows what that would look like…

I actually prefer some of Dominion’s mechanics to regular territories in some ways. I think if we were to take the upgrading base idea and combine some aspects of that (namely turrets and monitors) and place them into a game like 3-plots or Land grab (what was it called when you captured a territory and it was locked forever?).
