Personally, I think that every Halo has some cool or quality of life related features that should return in Halo Infinite. Obviously some features would have to be reworked, balanced or changed as it affects the overall pacing of the game.
My list:
- Seeing Passengers’ Health when Diving - Halo CE - Dual Wielding - Halo 2 / 3 - More teammate focused vehicles (like the the Prowler and the good ol’ fashioned Warthog) - Halo 1 / 2 / 3 - Some sort of PvE mode related to our Multiplayer Spartan - Halo 3 ODST / Reach (Firefight) or Halo 4 (Spartan Ops) - Seat Switching - Halo 5 - Shield Recharge Timer - Halo 5My Points for Each:
Passenger Health
See your passenger’s helath is very important, think about it: your driving to the enemy’s base with your gunner taking damage. Normally, you’d have to look at your teammate to see if their glowing or flashing, making it a sorta gamble. Halo CE however, had a feature to see your passenger’s health. Their seat name (passenger or gunner) would also flash if their shields were depleted. A very helpful feature!
Dual Wielding
Oh boy is this cool! It’s what sold Halo 2 so much, it opens up a whole box of possibilities, but as sad as it was, the nerf in Halo 3, while completely justifyed, makes it pretty much unviable! One way to fix this would be adding a new weapon which could be a two in one, as in you could split it in two. 343 have and will be experimenting with the idea of changing weapons on the fly, just look at the new Heatwave weapon in Halo Infinite.
More Team Based Vehicles
We need more team based vehicles. I get that some players prefer the Lone Wolf play style, but at the the same time, I think that we should add back the Team in Big Team Battle. The new Razorback is a great example of this.
PvE Mode
Firefight has been a classic since it was introduced in Halo 3 ODST, and later improved in Halo Reach.
Halo 5 tried to bring it back, but they made it too RPG like: killing bosses, capturing objectives etc… Which wasn’t a bad take on the gamemode, but it did leave the core of what Firefight made it unique: Survive as long as you can. I think that you could add Halo 5’s ideas to the classic Firefight experience, but make it so you get weapons as a bonus instead!
Seat Switching
A really awesome quality of life change right here. It’s both convenient for the player, it also creates that “I’m in a movie” feel. I’d rather have this then getting out just to travel to the other side of the car because I got in on the wrong side by accident. It’s happened to all of us!
Shield Recharge Timer
This was a nice quality of life change that I really appreciated in Halo 5, it feels like it should of naturally been in the game series since the beginning. It helps both new and old players by telling them that they can go back out into the open rather than guessing when they could. It also affects custom gamemodes too, which helps in new gamemodes that have changed that setting.
