I’ll be upgrading to a Xbox One X next Spring when the MCC fixes come out and was wondering what external HD size I should get. I know the X comes with a 1TB drive but I don’t think that’ll be enough for the games that I play especially after seeing the space 4K updates take up. The games that would be going on it are Halo MCC, Reach, HW DE,HW2 plus all add ons and the expansion, Destiny 1 and 2 with all expansions and DLC, Rare Replay, Resident Evil Origins, Sonic Mania, Star Dew Valley and Sea of Thieves to start off with.Price doesn’t matter to me as I want quality over quantity. Any suggestions?
It’s all up to you. Bottom line, try to find an external drive that suits your personal needs and is retailed at a reasonable price.
I am pretty sure 1TB will be enough for start. But the more games you play the more space you’ll need. Especially if you play those bigger games.
Look at the hard drives. They are cheap to get. 2TB or even 3-5 TB is definitely enough to
As a man with a 3TB external, I can say I may have TOO much space. I literally have every game I own installed on it and Im not even 30% of the way full.
Like everyone else says, you’d be better off getting the 2-5 TB hard drives for the One X. I prefer getting 5 TB if you’re planning on downloading more than 10 games including all the dlc and expansions.
It’s kind of baffling knowing that much space might not be enough for some people generally speaking. I don’t see how people have time to play 30-50 games without most not getting played for long periods of time, but that’s just me.
I’m drowning with 500gb here. Eventually I hope to get a decent sized external, but for now Halo 5, MCC, HW2 are my only games I got installed that I routinely play. I think anywhere between a 1-2 TB hard drive ought to do the trick for you.

What crazy is I just have the 500GB Hard Drive in my Xbox and with the MCC, HW DE,Reach, Destiny 1 and all the DLC and expansions and Destiny 2 I only have 131GB left which means I probably only have enough space left for Destiny 2’s expansions and DLC and the MCC Spring Update. 5 games will take up 500GB that’s ridiculous. I can only imagine what someone needs for 30 plus games.
I would personally go for a 2TB drive. That should give you plenty of space for any games that you will be purchasing in the near future. Bear in mind that you can always install games that you think you will play frequently on the console’s built-in hard drive
Whatever you do, just go 2TB minimum and you should be fine. You can always upgrade down the line or just add another drive later since you can have two external drives on an Xbox One.
Well I got a great deal on a n 8TB drive. The size of games that are coming out now are huge, so I figured, it would not hurt to have one that big.
