What exactly is the purpose of the AI scan?

I only very briefly got to play the flight before I had to leave (about 30 minutes) and I was just wondering what the AI scan pulse thing is? And if it’s something akin to the broken Promethean vision from Halo 4, but it didn’t seem like that.

I’ve been wondering the same thing.

I’ve been trying to ping the AI scan in Multiplayer and it doesn’t seem to serve a tactical purpose or give any kind of advantage. I suppose the pulse itself could serve to illuminate dark areas in place of a flashlight but there are no dark corners in PVP. Didn’t have the opportunity to ping active camo enemies though. Maybe that’s a thing.

My theory is that this is a sort of appendix from campaign, and has yet to be ironed out of the multiplayer experience. The first builds of the flight also had a campaign-friendly multi-grenade select system. This was later fixed to one single grenade switch button because one can only carry two types in multiplayer.

I am pretty sure it shows weapon mounts and then allows you to see which ones are available at that current period of time. Surely this will happen as well with vehicle drops and other ordinance drops. As far as I am concerned anyway…

I used it to spot dropped weapons on the ground in the grassy areas on that BTB map. I think it only shows stuff which you can interact with (items, flag, vehicles, weapon/equipment/vehicle spawners and teammates). I didn’t test it on enemies since the range is quite limited.

I’m pretty sure that thing is a campaign remnant to help people find “that switch/lever” or item they need to pick up to progress.

Yeah helps you find nearby weapons or items. Mainly for newer players who haven’t learned the lay of the land yet.

I just wish the pulse lasted longer. There were times there was weapon drops and I would pulse to see if I could find it but the pulse was so short I wasn’t able to look at all my surroundings. At the current pulse length it isn’t very useful unless you are already looking at what your are searching for

Yeah it did feel very short, maybe so it’s not too intrusive as you can always pulse again. I’d set it so maybe you tap for quick pulse, hold for a longer one?
