I’ve been seeing a lot of forums like this but I want to now know…what do YOU consider a TRUE Halo fan. I’m going to use myself for an example. I’ve read all of the books, I own all of the games, I have a collection of 90+ Halo figures from McFarlane Toys and I’m still collecting them, I’ve gotten every single achievement in every 360 Halo game. I have a replica energy sword, I’m an Inheritor on Reach, I wear Halo clothes, blast Halo soundtracks in my car, and I play Halo EVERYDAY ! I’m not making any of this up, its ALL true. At first I was…scared, of the new changes and news. It was hard for me to accept them and I’d even go as far as to say i hated them, but as the day went on I kept thinking about these things, and out of them all, the only thing i still truly dislike at this point and time is “Forerunner Vision” but now I’m accepting of these changes, but just because at first I didn’t accept them does that mean I wasn’t a true halo fan ? no !, some people just take longer to accept things than others. I have Halo 4 already pre-ordered, I will own it no matter what and I will play it every day pretty much just like I do with reach, weather it be before work of after work when i get home at 11 at night, as long as i play at least 1 match. I’m going to definitely admit this, Halo 4 will take some time to adapt to. Just like Halo Reach did, but despite Halo Reach’s downfalls and -Yoink- that happens. I still love it. In my eyes and many of my friends I AM a true Halo fan. Halo is my life. I’d say i’m the ultimate but thats just my opinion. What to you HONESTLY think a true halo fan is ? would you say I’m a true fan even though I was scared and didn’t like the changes at first ? what do you all think. I’m serious about this.

Change “the Halo Universe” to “a Halo Game” and I agree. It’s not about whether you read those books or not.
I think the best thing a fan can do is not accept everything that is throw their way just because of a name.
Correction Mitch Glasgow, it is about weather you read the books or anything. Its not just about the games. I have friends how are terrible at the games but still love Halo through the different media that have been made. and FatalFirecroth, you just don’t share the same compassion that i have for this series.

But the games are part of the universe. You are still investing in the universe even you if do not read the books or comics. But yes a halo fan is someone you does invest their time in some form of the universe whether it is the games or books.

When I say Halo Universe, I don’t mean just to books or games, but any sort of Halo media or Halo related material. Buy Halo toys regularly? You’re a Halo fan. Only play Halo 3’s campaign? You’re a Halo fan. Love Halo Action Clix? You’re a Halo fan. Make or Watch Halo Machinima? You’re a Halo fan. All of this is investment into the Halo Universe.
Someone willing to speak up when -Yoink- gets stupid.
A true Halo fan constantly plays the game or reads the books or somehow contributes to the community.

I am pretty sure I have a very similar passion for Halo. I’ve been playing it for 10 1/2 years and probably have 11,000 games played across all the games. I have read the books. I have posters and I have a Halo splatter medal sticker on my car. I just don’t think it is good for a fan to buy everything because of a name, because in the end it doesn’t help improve a product.

Yeah, I meant more along those lines, because when I hear Halo Universe, It is generally only referring to the books/media. When I say someone invests time into a Halo game in any way, shape or form, I think of everything with the title “Halo”, simply because everything revolves around the game.

the only thing i would add is that a halo fan also has some sort of emotional investment in the halo universe. we care about the universe and where its heading. even if we dont agree with other fans.
I consider myself a true Halo fan. I started with Halo 2 (Then got Halo:CE, 3, etc.) and I’ve been playing since then. Ive been vocal about things I dont like, (AL, bloom etc.) and things I do like, (Sprint, weapon balance, bleedthrough, AR buff, etc) but I have been accepting and adapting as time goes on to each game.
I don’t like some of the info of Halo 4, (X-ray, random weapons, insta-spawn, AAs.) but I am willing to except these things as so far campaign and Spartan Operations are sounding great and multiplayer will probably be fine or even good.
Ive also read through the books and lore countless time and I am very excited for more story. (Halo: Reach never happened in my books :P, Fall OF Reach novel FTW)

you may have a similar one Fatal, but not one as strong as mine. I love the universe of Halo, Halo has helped me make it through some very hard points in my life where I just didn’t care, but I could always go to a universe full of stories and adventure when my mind could go wild. So there for, If I see something with the Halo name on it, and I have the spare cash. I will buy it. because thats just how much I love halo, you may think that I’m just buying it because it has the halo name on it. but to me it means something much more, and I’ve been playing Halo since CE ever came out so yeah. about 10 1/2 years here too buddy.

trust me, Halo has helped me a sh*tload throughout my life. However, I can’t continue to support what really isn’t Halo, not again.
sorry mitch, the was directed towards fatal not you, but its your choice man, I will continue to support the franchise that i love. I won’t let go of halo, not till the very end.
everyone says they are a true Halo Fan to help with their argument like so.
“Guise I’ve been playin Halo since CE and I like AA’S cause we need to evolve”

ok WedgedAutumn304, what do you consider a true halo fan ? because no matter what any of you say here i’ll never let go of the franchise, and i am a true fan with multiple people backing me up on that.
