I know this thread is going to seem stupid and random but just hear me out before you flame me. I read posts on this forum and other forums about people quitting mid game and even in MM lobby because they know they are going to get owned or pwned or raped. however you want to say it. My question is what happened to the fun in that? I joined the halo world on XBL back in 04 when H2 was released and being New to it every single game I got annhilated and sure I raged at the time but a day or 2 later I would be LAUGHING at how bad me and my best friend got beatdown and now looking back 9 years later those were some of he funest games/matches and some of the fondest memories I have of halo.
It’s never fun to loose. i think you mean what happened to not caring about loosing
I agree with that, but at the same time for me and my friend it was fun because we wouldnt rage quit, we’d take the beating lol
Loosing after a close game and being fine with it is entirely different then being beat down without a chance…especially in Halo 4 with infinity settings active. Boy, being spawn camped with Binary Rifles and other power weapons is FUN.

I do rage at that most of the time, But some of the time I just laugh at it thinking “That lucky SOB!”

No, I think “Wow, look at how unbalanced, poorly designed and random this game is”.
Which I can agree with that is uncompetitive and unfair. But I’m looking at it from a completely different standpoint I like competitive I do. But I guess I just miss the days when people would get on just to play some matches, win, loose, rape or be raped it was all good fun.
Getting severely smacked is no laughing matter. I can’t look back on a time where I got thrashed and say, “this is a fond memory and the funnest time.” I dislike losing in Halo 4 out of all the other halos, because of how unbalanced thing are. I couldn’t rage at losing in halo 3, because it was a fair and understandable loss. I don’t have much to blame…

Sorry, I’m not going to sit back and just laugh at being at a supreme disadvantage because of poorly implemented features. I don’t rage much at losing, but when the game is completely loopsided because of random ordinance, faulty Join In Progress and so on, there is no humor there.

But what about when this style of rage quit continues when Team Throwdown is implemented? or in the Current doubles pro? where no one is at a disadvantage (unless you count of OP of the Dmr)
When I started out playing Halo 2 I was terrible, but I’ve got better. Not the best by a long shot. I didn’t really care how I did back then, I just enjoyed playing it. But I know now how things work in the game… cause and effect, what should happen when I do this, etc.
Now when I take into account lag, other connection issues, betrayers and other poor team mates, random/personal ordnance (yeah it’s brilliant when the other team randomly gets Rockets, a Sniper, a Binary Rifle and an Incineration Cannon. What do we get and Sticky detonator and a shotgun, on Ragnarok.) And when the whole other team is using the DMR.
Then IMO thing are not working how they should be working… no fun there. I can see why this game can cause frustration and rage.

If everybody has the same weapons and same opportunities for map control and power weapon control, I won’t rage because I’ll at least know the match was much fairer than basic Halo 4.
Everyone has a different view of fun. Some may have fun getting destroyed and losing. Since winning and losing don’t really matter in Halo 4 I’m having fun as long as I’m doing well. If I go positive at the end of the game then I had fun.
I have fun whenever I get to be in the middle of a close range, all out fight where everything gets crazy and hectic. I also enjoy when highly unpredictable or even seemingly impossible things happen, or when you accidentally do something really cool or do something stupid but it ends up being funny.
Whether I win or lose is irrelevant once these things start happening.

Oh no, I dislike a feature, let me quickly throwdown the words “random, unbalanced, and unskilled!”
Since when is being spawn camped fun? If it’s a close and intense game, that’s one thing, but just getting killed off spawn isn’t fun at all.
New Game and I lose … Fun.
JIP game and I lose…could be fun could be a piece of -Yoink-
There is nothing fun about getting killed by a Boltshot at close range while you have shotgun, or people camping in the middle of the map on Abandon, or Ordnance dramatically changing a fight. I liked when I lost to skill, or when I was just messing around with friends crashing mongooses on the map. This game at times is ridiculously hard to enjoy at times with the gimmicks at times.
I think its a sign of the times. Players/people feel more entitled than before and expect instant gratification; when they aren’t completely dominating a game, they get upset.
