Does anyone else ever wonder what happened to the brutes. I mean by the end of halo3. They were supposed to be the muscle for the covant .

Covanent lost. Brutes bolted.
Brutes took a massive hit after the fall of the Covenant so they left and are trying to stay out of conflicts right now.
They’re hanging out with the Drones and the Flood because nobody likes them anymore.

So does no one read the books? After the rebellion the Brutes were hunted to near extinction. Those that are left are in hiding and reverted back to their primitive nature.

Shame, even if the books say they are no longer.
The one dimensional route of H5 really shows through when you remember the previous Halo campaigns.

I thought the flood died out ever since the ark blew up, so there are none. I agree on the brutes, though, they were most unlikable enemies ever next to the flood, but at least the flood went easy on LASO.
P.S. I like the drones except on H2 legendary

I shouldn’t have to read the books to understand a huge lore component, this is the biggest problem with Halo at the moment. To much outside sources need to enjoy the game.

Possible plot line for future Halo game where Brutes come flying in with Drones on their backs? I’d buy it.
Most of the brutes are probably on their homeworld, Dosiac, they really don’t have the high tech level the Covenant did or even Humans. In the books they make a couple of appearances but nothing much in story depth. More than likely the Brutes seen in HW2 are a Covenant splinter sect, or possibly the game will be during the Human-Covenant war, remember the war went on for 27 years I think, so lots of time for things to happen.
