What ever happened to teleporters....

in match making? In Halo 2 (and to some extent Halo 3) they were in most of the memorable maps. I think they add more variables to the gameplay than man cannons or grav lifts. I like cannons and lifts for what they add to the game but I feel like they are used in maps when a teleporter would be just as effective and far more creative?

I know Halo 2 maps were more based on Covenant Tech than any Halo that followed , but seeing the backwards development of so much Forerunner and Covenant tech , you would think the UNSC would see the tactical advantage a teleporter would offer over these more basic forms of quick travel.

War Games is based on real locations that are simulated through a holodeck. The UNSC just picks the locations. They don’t place the things in said locations aside from weapons/ordnance.

Meltdown and Shatter both have teleporters. Their may be another map or two also but I’m not sure. Either way it’s something that started with Bungie and translated over to 343. In Bungies words, man cannons present a risk/reward scenario that puts you in inherent danger. Teleporters are kinda meh and are just an easy means of travel. 343 stated that they don’t use teleporters if they don’t have a good use on the map. Which makes sense… If their is no need and they aren’t going to enhance the map then why put them in?

Remembers Chiron TL-34

Good times.
