Hi guys can anyone definitively say what role the commando is playing in the sandbox from a lore perspective. What kind of gun is it supposed to be?
Not sure if its
A ballistic counter to the covie carbine due to ammo types being more defined and role specific.
A beefed up silenced smg.
An smg dmr hybrid similar to halo4s LR that was a br dmr depending if scoped.
The fire rate seems to change between zoom and hip fire.
I just can’t figure it out.

Looks like their version of a M16 to me.

Ya thats on me had to edit to he more specific. Theres already a thread for role thats covered just about all the bases haha.
As it stands I’m not really hot or cold on the design so it will come down to function to decide if I end up liking it but some lore might help it grow on me.

As it turns out it isn’t related to the rifleni alluded to, a rifle that I mistakenly claimed was in TCP it was actually on the cover art of onyx.
The commando is the replacement of the HMG-38 seen in the fall of reach but it has been in service for quite some time in the lore. Apparently outfires the CC.

Yup, should be interesting to see where it lands in the sandbox now. Starting to think it will be more a suppression weapon than the suppressor was. Good your crowd control in single and area denial/objective taking in mp. Assuming youre running with an organised squad.
To me, it looks like a beefed up DMR. I welcome this new rifle.

It’s an updated version of a very old gun frequently used in the outer colonies, hence why it’s got a more modern day look to it with it not being a bullpup rifle like every other UNSC gun.

Lmaoo I tend to do that sometimes
I feel like this gun will somehow play a vital role in the arsenal. Itll either be a meta gun, or theyll just market the gun as big as the assault rifles been in previous games.
Either way from the gameplay we’ve seen this still looks like a cool gun and I cant wait to try it out first hand.
