What enemies do you think we’ll be fighting in Halo 4? Covenant is unlikely, and Flood aren’t popular enough for 343 to make them the only enemy. I’m thinking Forerunner enemies AND Flood enemies. After all, the planet sucking in the Forward Unto Dawn is clearly Forerunner, and the Flood are everywhere Forerunners are so far. Here’s my guess:
-Sentinels, with their usual beam weapons and no shielding
-Some kind of ground version of the Sentinel with a bolt weapon and shields
-A defensive robot with a jackal-like shield and weak weapons
-Super Sentinels like in Halo 2, with a Forerunner explosive weapon
-Guardians, small monitor-like robots that control big energy cannons
-Forerunner Troops with a variety of weapons, good shields and fast dodging
-All the usual Flood forms
-Flood Juggernauts
-Flying Flood from HW
forerunner flood precursors
I really don’t think we can make logical assumptions until 343 gives us a little more info on this “ancient threat”.
Although, I do think its wise to start looking in the precursor or flood direction since they both ancient in origin. Dont think its forerunner since they saved us from the firing of the Halo Array, and made us their Reclaimers, which is why theyre technology only works for humans. If they are present, they probably will be our allies.

The Precursors could travel through Galaxies and, IIRC, time.
So probably not.
Forerunners would be impossible to beat. Thier armor is class 12 or something like that.

And yet some of guys think MC can handle a precursor? I’m sorry, but I just can’t find it in any logical way MC can handle even a precursor infant. Their obviously far, FAR too advance, unless 343 makes some sort of cheesy plot with the covenant, humanity, forunners, and…maybe the flood against the precursors?

Precursors are supposedly transsentient, even the Halos don’t hurt them.
> 1. Spark said himself that he would bring back the Forerunners and the Didact to fight MC in Terminal 10. This fits the “Ancient Enemy” because they fought Humans in the Human-Forerunner War.

The Forerunners fought the Humans out of ignorance, they didn’t realize the threat of the flood at that time.

No, he said he wishes the Forerunners were there.
-
maybe, maybe not.

All the flood on 05 followed Gravemind to the Ark and were wiped out. The remaining flood in the galaxy are trapped on the other halos. Extra-Galactic flood are a more plausible threat.

343 said that the Terminals would hint at Halo 4. Why would they waste the final, and most important, on Spark saying what he “wished” would happen? Foreshadowing.
And that still means that the Forerunners are an Ancient Enemy of humanity, as for the Forerunner’s supposed “ignorance”, they won’t be happy to learn that Chief has destroyed a Halo and the second destruction wont help much.
I have feeling if were fighting forerunners, its going to be that warrior-servant class. the highest sect of them, such as the Didact, were Promethean. They stand at 4 meters tall and weigh at heaviest about 1000 kg (about 2200 lbs) and needless to say, strong as hell. Add that to a high tech armor, well, hopefully MC only has to talk to them, he probably would lose the fight unless his armor got a really big upgrade and still tough fight.
Also lets take consideration into something else, seeing as though the highest sect is a big as hell, how big are the lower ones? I would say that the lower sects would be the equivalent of elites at the very least.
Probably the lowest tier of enemies coming from the forerunners is those sentinels and guardians.
Are we humans the only eligible species to be Reclaimers? The mysterious planet may inexorably draw others from distant galaxies. The planet could be a city of potential Reclaimers. At any rate, John will not be the biggest fish for much longer.

This could possibly be answered in the next book of Halo Cryptum series, though I have no idea how long that series goes out for so maybe not.
Gathering the details from Cryptum, we seem to be that special connection with the forerunners.
We can’t have smart Flood unless we see resurgence of the Gavemind.
And if that happens, they must include half Flood, which would infiltrate UNSC to destroy it from within. They would be more intelligent than even Pure Forms.
Anyways, potential enemies besides Flood:
-Elite factions
-human factions
-Forerunner constructs
-Precursors
