Maybe even a CRT filter as well if we want to get really retro
Updates, support, attention, and tournament recognition for Halo 2 Classic.
If they could add a restart mission option at the end of a campaign mission that would be a great quality of life improvement for challenge grinding those shorter missions or just replaying a favourite level. Currently you have to load into the next mission, skip the cutscene and then quit out and restart the previous mission from the campaign mission select menu. Itâs a lot of faff that could be easily cut out with the above option being put into the game.
Thanks for reading
Being able to Forge on Firefight maps and using Campaign AI in Forge would be a dream. Though, itâs probably unrealistic. Especially since 343 is wanting to add Campaign AI to Halo Infiniteâs Forge at some point.
I will buy MCC again if I can search H5 and Infinite 4v4s and BTBs alongside the titles of MCC.
Otherwise, I likely gave my last dollar to the franchise.
Thank you for the continued support of Master Chief Collection, MCC is Infinite.
Recently, thought of a further expansion to one concept:
As above; arrange all the internal Covey corvette BSPs on Long Night of Solace as shown in campaign, flip a copy of set_gunroom_050_060_065 for the other weapons corridor, scale up model of external hull to fit the path if necessary, etc.
This now serves as the base in-game model that naval stuff can be scaled against.
Now, take the Syfon-class assault carrier model from the Halo 2 Anniversary campaign. Scale it appropriately with the composite Ceudar-class model. (Spoilers: itâs huge.)
There are two options to do with the resulting object:
- One could try to block out major components of the carrierâs internal spaces (good luck, all known references to utilize are the bridge, hangar and some corridor pieces; could maybe reuse certain components from the levels Truth and Reconciliation + Keyes for the hangar bays on the side, gravity lift area, and the vehicle storage bays)âŚ
- One could use the external hull (or segments thereof) to form a map by itself.
For the purposes of this hypothetical, the second option is chosen.
- Remove the stern/lower/rear section of the Syfon-class carrier. It is not necessary to keep around.
- Place bow/upper/fore section of the Syfon carrier on terrain, be it rock, soil, or water.
- Two further options: one could either leave the hull exposed OR submerge/bury lower portions of it, leaving only the dorsal surface exposed. For purposes of hypothetical, second option is preferred. (This also means the submerged/buried sections of the ship hull model can be readily erased, as players are not expected to be able to access or observe those sections.)
- Upon the dorsal surface of the Syfon-class carrier is what could be described as an urban-like environment, with analogues to buildings and streets. Sheltered to the left, right, and front by hundreds of meters of nanolaminate âwallsâ (or in the case of the oceanic scenario, seawalls/breakwaters), with a large imposing edifice towards the rear of the bow section that the cityscape partially wraps around. This is the standard âplayable spaceâ of this hypothetical map; essentially a Covenant analogue to the New Mombasa urban environment in ODST.
Because this would be built off of a Halo 2 Anniversary object, it is only fitting that such a map is added to Halo 2 Anniversaryâs multiplayer, either for use in Forge, or for BTB modes. Smaller sections of the cityscape could be cordoned off in Forge to be utilized in lesser 4v4-type maps.
To go back to the options in Step 3: if the front section remains mostly above the surrounding terrestrial surface, the hull could potentially be further split apart, similarly to how Enduring Conviction was rendered non-operational during the events of Halo Wars 2. This option could even lead to a further remodeling of the guiding concept or intent of the map, with segments of interior areas becoming accessible and engagements being mostly fought across the debris field between the hull sections.
Something along the lines of BTB-tier Boarding Action meets WW1 no-man-land. set in the wreckage site as shown in the E3 2016 Halo Wars 2 trailer.
It would probably be extremely unlikely, but one could have both the âEnduring Wreckageâ and âCovenant Cityscapeâ accessible on the same map, but it would probably put excessive strain upon the gameâs engine.
HOWEVER; there is a possibility to consider. Given how most Coveybloc ships are copypastas of a hull pattern (cruisers generally have same hullform, etc.), perhaps this ship is not actually a Syfon assault carrier, but perhaps a smaller escort/light carrier platform? While the Ruma-class light carrier breaks with the established Covey carrier pattern, there is no reason to assume that there couldnât be a smaller variant of the Syfon-class for hybrid carrier operations that do not necessitate the deployment of larger assets. Such a hypothetical ship could either be scaled to half the dimensions of a Syfon, or potentially roughly five hundred in-game meters of lesser length than even that estimate.
This would drastically cut down on the size of such a hypothetical map, while still being readily enjoyable and usable as both an urban Forge area and a combat zone.
Credits in the campaign
I honestly miss the classic credits when playing the campaigns, that feeling of joy and closure, sitting down after all of it ends and just listening at the phenomenal soundtrack, waiting for the post-credits scene to show up.
I miss that.
Halo Infinite has this, I loved sitting down and waiting for the end credits, listening to the spectacular Warthog Run, remembering the past.
So if it could be possible to re-add the old credits into the campaigns, even if they have a toggle or skip button for those who donât want to sit through them, I would be really happy.
Also, a volume system for the music, since some music is hard to hear over loud sounds.
This could fix the low volume issue with Halo 4âs music and Halo 2âs classic music
It would be extremely beneficial
Mod support for consoles. I was hoping this would become a thing since every halo yt channel was raving about the latest update. I was wrong.
I switched to MKB earlier this year and I like the mouse input update they did for Infinite, so Iâll say I want to see something similar for MCC ![]()
-Console Support
-In Menu Mod Support
-Microsoft Windows Store Mod Support
-Modded map support for Custom Games Browser
-Campaign Co-Op Support for Modded content
-Mod Support for Steam Deck MCC
-Easy way to copy/paste mod files from Nexus upload to Steam Workshop
If we can get stuff like this, I feel like MCC will become immortal. I actually believe that. Games like Skyrim, L4D2, TF2, CS:GO, theyâre all like a decade old or so and people still play them. I think lessons could be learned from games like Skyrim and Left 4 Dead 2 when it comes to mod support, especially Left 4 Dead 2 since it supports Campaign Co-Op for modded content via dedicated servers. I would love to see support for that come to MCC.
Oh, and maybe something that allows us to use the visuals for anniversary remastered models for the Halo CE and H2A campaigns. I understand that those particular assets are some kind of pak files and not something that you would normally mod. But I just enjoy for example the H2A Campaign Model for the Plasma Rifle more than the H2A Multiplayer model.
Edit: So, as I understand it, for a lot of Steam Workshop items Custom Sounds have to be downloaded from a separate file (usually found on Nexus) as theyâre not working properly. Thatâs something that 343 should look into.
My biggest request is to revert the multiplayer balance to legacy, rather than social games all using precision starts. The most fun I have in Halo is playing Auto Slayer, and it bugs me to no end that objective game modes just have completely messed up weapon balance. When everyone starts with the best or most versatile gun in the game, the entire balance is completely thrown off. Have you ever noticed how hard it is to get a sword spree in MCC? They used to be more common, because you started with a weapon that couldnât super easily counter the sword in a few bursts. Ranked can keep using pro rules, obviously, I just donât understand why social games have to have them.
Potential heresy incoming, though: I want the ability to turn the announcer off, or at least limit what he says. Objective game modes are difficult to play for me because of how frequently the announcer calls out objective drops and pick ups, CTF is basically completely unplayable for me because the meta revolves around dropping and picking up the flag constantly. I suffer from sensory issues that make it extremely unpleasant and I just donât pick that playlist anymore because I might get a mode I canât play. Itâd be nice if you could just turn off his objective callouts, but if thatâs not possible I will happily take turning him off entirely just so I can play the game.
Finally, Iâd love it if subtitles could be color-coded to the speaker, like in Half-Life 2, or better yet, Halo Infinite.
I would love the possibility to join ongoing matches, especially for the Big Team Battle social games.
Iâd love to see Halo 2âs original Post Game Carnage Report back, along with the ability to see the final score and server chosen in the PGCR.
Also, I really believe we need a real ranked re-haul; give us the ability to search multiple ranked playlists at once just like in social, give us custom skins for earning rank 25, and special nameplates for reaching rank 50. Also we need to leave the ranked rotational hoppers in the full list permanently along with the aforementioned feature of mixtape matchmaking for ranked just like we have the Match Composer now for social. These QoL features combined with things like Party Matchmaking, rank displayed in lobby, and decreasing the amount of wins it takes to reach a 50 would drastically increase player count back to the ranked modes again.
I want elites in Reach to be playable in all social gamemodes in matchmaking.
Piece by piece customization for the Reach elites.
Customizable armor light and shield colors.
And more Halo Online armors added for the elites of Halo 3.
P.S. Throw in playable elites for Halo 4 as well.
Two things I think need to be added.
One, some sort of in-game moderator system, where certain players are given âmoderatorâ powers to kickban players for doing things like griefing, clearly cheating (flying around the map, etc.), being AFK all game, that sort of thing. It would go a long way towards ensuring rules are actually enforced. It would be helpful if they could access another playerâs game history and theater recordings as well to look for trends, or something of that nature.
There would need to be certain restrictions on the moderators, of course. Iâd suggest requiring they record all their games, upload their recordings (with timestamps) to some database with the exact reason their decision was made. These recordings will be kept for 30 days and allow players to contest the decisions in that time. Any moderators found to be abusing their power will have them immediately and permanently removed. And if for some reason you didnât record the game and canât get it in theater mode (like, say, a Halo 2 game where you forgot to hit record, or the file was corrupted), then you reverse the ban and record this activity instead. Iâm just spitballing here, but the system could be tweaked if needed.
On a related note, they really need a way to ban more than just the profile of people who are cheating in matchmaking.
Two, some sort of Official Playlists in the custom game browser. You could have things like a popular custom games list (Jenga, Fat Kid, etc.) or Weekly Playlists during the off week (Grifball, Shotty Snipers, Fiesta) or even just regular playlists without matchmaking (BTB socials, Snipers, SWAT) where you have a standard rule set that you know is being applied. Youâd trade knowing that the game will start out with even team numbers by removing the need for matchmaking, no quitban penalties, and the ability to enter in the middle of a match. This would be an easy way to give people who want all that ALL of that without having to redesign the matchmaking system itself. And if the official playlist is full, you can just start populating another lobby.
I agree with everything completely, though this point here is likely never going to happen due to how different Elites are from Spartans in Reach, and how many people would be upset by the change in gameplay.
I just want them to re-add 4v4 Elite Slayer as an option to the composer pool. I miss it so much.
So in other words, TOSERS? Not a good idea.
Arby N the Chief proved why this was always a bad idea.
