What else does Forge need?

Halo 5 Forge is by far the best out of them all, but nothing is perfect. What else should Halo 5 Forge have? Here is my list:

  • Actual welding to vehicles (so it’s not a glitch) this would mean that we could weld to the Phaeton, and hopefully the third-person-camera will zoom out when we weld more stuff to the vehicle. - More game-modes (not exactly Forge but oh well) - More custom game options (they revolutionised Forge and I think they should do the same with Custom Games, I want to be able to create a whole new game-type).That’s it, I’m sure I could think of more but not off the top of my head.

Better physics in objects, they just don’t bounce like they used to.

Fixing scripts so “Rotate: Offset” works.

I tried to make a map with moving covers inspired in Halo 2’s boss fight (against Tartarus) and I could not because for some reason making a script with “Rotate: Offset” makes the object (or objects in a group) pivot around a random point.

Yeah, some premade structure would be nice. I am also experiencing bugs.

They should rotate around the parent object. I had no problem with the Rotate: Offset script (other than the actual rotation animation is a bit awkward,) but it works as expected provided you set the parent correctly.

What I’d like to see added:

  • Able to take a screenshot of the map and set that as the image you see in the lobby as it loads up.
  • Change what theme the natural pieces are like you change the color of other objects. So if I build a big area using natural pieces from alpines theme, but then want to change it to glaciers theme I can select them all and just switch it like I would a color. (even if this is way harder to process and I have to wait a moment for it to re-render that’s cool.)
  • Perhaps a way to set objects to be non-climbable without having to disable clamber entirely in the game type options. Could be useful.
  • Area-enter and Area-exit script conditions.
  • A way to mirror objects or groups.
  • All Warzone weapon variants
  • Trait volumes (like gravity volumes but more options) Settings could either be pre-set in forge, or set to a preset (like, alpha, bravo, or charlie) and then those presets would be defined by the game mode.That’s what I can think of off hand. I’m sure I’ve got more in the back of my head though.
    Of course I’d mention being able to save groups of objects and load them on other maps, but that’s actually coming in the future.

Woah if you ever do finish that make cause it works I will definelty want to see that.

Aside from fixing some bugs, my only wish is for the option to add more textures to objects. The maps that have come out already look really clean, but textures would put this forge at GOAT levels.

I would like to be able to place plants, large and small (besides trees and stumps) and have terrain types that have grass and what not, instead of terrain pieces that just mirror whats underneath them.

add the warzone guns so people can play with them and see what people will do with them in the maps the make

God, this. I spent 4 hours trying to get a truck I made to drive in a circle. EVENTUALLY, using a mechanism akin to a model solar system, I was able to get it working, but the rotation was as jerky as a sun dried slab of beef.

Edit: Oh yeah, trait zones and “On enter/On exit” volumes." Those too.

Spartan dummies with exact formed hitboxes to test weapons against at different ranges, and to make a shooting gallery using “us” s targeets.

Nul-zones. Areas that can disable traits, abilities and weapons, both infantry and vehicular.

  • Windows which you can shoot through (basically just the window frame) - Door frames

Besides the plants I mentioned earlier, I would really like to be able to change the color of vehicles that would be pretty neat.

BRING BACK THE RAINBOW MONGEESE! REMEMBER REACH!

This sounds far fetched but it would be cool if we could have the Halo soundtrack playing in the background of the maps we create. Similar to how you can add sound effects to maps, give the option to add any music from all the halo soundtracks onto our maps.

then if we could add A.I with that we could make our own campaign levels.

Also, as an item i would like to see drop pods as a vehicle. Use the samd assets from warzone assault.

Pre-made door frames.
Windows without glass.
Custom Power ups (with effect duration toggles ie: 1min/infinate)
Bushes??
Actual pressure plates. There are “scripted” ones on the Interwebs but this could be streamlined.
Prefab Buildings?
Save files for Welded or Grouped items for exporting to other maps.
Warzone weapons and vehicles.
Pre-made Scripts? (Im fine with making my own but thinking for the newer players)

  • Undo button
  • A few more trees/foliage options
  • The ‘Buildings’ tab from Reach/H4/H2A…
  • Trait zones.

I also would have liked to see less redundancy. I thought Halo 5 would finally be the Halo game where you selected a block and didn’t have to scroll through all the various sizes it comes in.

You should just be able to turn a 16 x 32 block into a 128 x 128 block yourself… If rotating and copying is possible I imagine scaling is too.

The former was hinted at in the stream, I believe. They said it was planned for a future update.
