What Elamite and Neighbor say

Bravo release a video with him interviewing MLG pros ElamiteWarrior and Neighbor, asking about what they thought of their limited play time of Halo 4.

AS a note, there are some mistakes, like Neighbor calling the Spartan-IVs ,Chief, and of course everything being said is based of a very closed and limited playing of a part of the game. I do, however, think many of the points they speak about should be taken seriously and they do provide their honest opinios on the game.

Keep the hate out and discuss. Thanks

Good video, it was very interesting.

Good video. It felt more honest than some of the other first impression videos we’ve seen.

Glad to see some honesty. Ordnance drops look game breaking to me. There needs to be a playlist that lacks the option to vote for Infinity gametypes. Everything else seemed ok to me.

> Good video, it was very interesting.

It is surprising how many people, even here don’t know that Ordnance drops are only in Infinity Slayer!

There is a normal slayer gametype without the ordnance drops.

Good video though, Elamite seems like a chill dude.

If he refers to himself as the Chief when playing the MP, then perhaps he’s got some heart for the big’C

Other than that, worried about what fans like but they had fun??
It’s like they don’t keep up with the news and realise that Infinity Slayer is just a gametype, a new take on slayer in Halo, and that there will be gametypes and options for experiences more closely to what they’re used to.
And to worry that Forge won’t be able to take care of their needs?

Like seriously, why so worried? I understand the confusion between sports entertainment competitive and online competitive, but the worry that alternative game mode settings won’t exist, as if Snipers and SWAT were going to disappear… MLG settings, well that’s up to them, but to worry that Halo won’t be Halo when the movement and shooting were much more empowering than Reach or H3, why talk with a tail between the legs?

Good to see what they addressed as not competitive already, was interesting listening about the small elements of map design e.g. shooting between rails, jumping ledges etc.

The overall video was great, just hoping that 343 takes Bravo and his efforts seriously. MLG has been a huge part of the Halo franchise. These guys have been playing for a while now, and seem to be speaking on the terms for the community.

I’m sure there’s regular Slayer with the standard settings.
You know, regular scoring, no ordinance drops, no loadouts etc.

Stopped watching when they said it was more like CoD.

I expected better from MLGers.

Anybody here played GoW3? I think the gametype they showed in E3 is just going to be the main casual gametype in the game. Same way as in GoW3, that gametype is going to be an easy to play, ongoing row of matches where you play until you get bored and quit (thus its name “infinity”). This would also be where the ingame joining would come to play to replace those players who quit.
Apart from that, all the rest of gametypes would be the social and competitive gametypes like we all know.

why? because they had an honest opinion the only argument you guys had to say when we said the game would be like cod is “oh im sorry have you played the game?” well guess what these guys did play the game and said it plays a bit too much like cod so hopefully 343 will take that to heart and make the game perfect by release.

It only plays like cod in the sense of Ordnance drop. I value their input, but I’m not going to eat it up and believe what they say 100%. From gameplay I’ve seen, it appears that it plays more like halo than it does cod. This is just infinity slayer, and the newbies will be here getting used to the game, while we play a different slayer with weapon drops similar to the ol halo we like. Halo had to evolve and so far, it looks like it they didn’t go overboard. It looks better than Reach. They just need to do some adjustments. E3 feedback should have been more than enough feedback.

People keep saying that they are being “honest” when it’s just their opinion, their “idea” of what competitive game-play should be, not what’s best for the rest of the community, nor is it absolute legitimacy, these guys are the first I have seen to -Yoink- about Halo 4 and they weren’t doing the best either. I just don’t want Halo 4 to be split into two separate games, which is what will end up happening. I have enjoyed everything I have seen and have had no real complaints, I don’t really think Halo 4 needs that much tweaking, these guys just didn’t like it very much because it didn’t allow them to own as well as they did before, and felt that Halo 4 has deviated too much from traditional Halo, but I really don’t think it has, those guys just need to get used to it.

I would really hate for classic or “competitive” slayer to be like Halo 3, I want Halo 4, a 343 creation. I don’t want to get into (what is supposedly) competitive slayer and find that it is completely like Halo 3 and 2, what would have been the point in all the years of development? If those “pros” don’t like what they see, then good riddance, others will take their place. I really hope that isn’t the case, and they get some nuts and adapt to a different playing style, becuase these are respected Halo players and I guess it would be a shame to see them leave. But if they want to remake Halo 3 in Halo 4, then they can happily leave Halo 4, because I actually want Halo 4 to be something new and different, I don’t want another 10 years of the same damn game just with a different story, it would get boring very quickly.

Although, there are somethings I believe that should not be in competitive play, like P-Vision, not that it’s over powered, it’s just that by the time you get to that stage where you feel you’re ready to become competitive, you shouldn’t really need Promethean vision and that way it wont be a waste of space and game-play can be a little more reliant on communication and raw teamwork. Also, Ordnance Drops should stay, but you should only be able to get certain weapons and that’s it, no over shields, no power up traits, no map controlling weapons like snipers and rockets. Just weapons like the Scattershot which would otherwise not be on the map and are only used as a personal Close-quarters weapon. The other stuff should just be spawned on the map as usual, and you shouldn’t be able to instant spawn for map control reasons, and that’s it. I don’t want Halo 4 to drift back to Halo 3, it should remain as Halo 4, new and exciting.

So maps are pretty but not very competitive? Well they can always adjust I suppose.

From what they said, I really hope they get rid of Promethean vision or at least only put it in only certain playlist.

I can understand why them and other people feel like its similar to call of duty but the random ordanance options at the same time, theres a big difference how they play and people dont seem to get that, there not killstreaks, there more a meter of kills and assists (adrenaline bar). This random weapons is going to be interesting how its gonna play out but my opinion if 343 wants to improve on it they should try weapon drops depending on gametype and loadout. For example make your sniper loadout and to get your power weapon you have to fill up your meter and dont make it random maybe. This is all if the random weapons dont work and people also have to get past the similarities to call of duty

This is what I was afraid of, people thinking badly about certain aspects of the game just because someone says it’s bad or damaging. They are not you, let that kind of judgment be made by you, all the times I have seen Promethean vision used it gave nobody any real advantage, they just knew were to move to, and were not good at countering attacks by more than on person, they could not judge what weapon the enemy had in their hands, so you could find that the guy you assumed was an ordinary player with a BR, turned out to be someone with a Scattershot or a Rail gun. So TBH Promethean vision doesn’t need any tweaking or removal from any playlist, it would just hinder your progress as you get better, because that space can be taken by something better and more useful to your style of play.

I’m also glad to hear that the spawning system is great. I’ve heard it from not only them.

I bit off topic, I want to see or hear more from this Cortana Web.

Honestly, who cares what 1 person thinks.

Opinions are like noses, everyone has one. I like Blue Cheese, you may think that it is gross, does that mean I can no longer eat it?

Just a matter of taste(excuse the pun).

While I appreciate the opinion, I think that there is a lot of misinformation being spread and one has to keep in mind that this was just the E3 build, not the final product. All the bells and whisles were not available to them and the public, only some.

Please need to calm down.
