What does your armor configuration say about you?

What does it say about you?
Did you choose it based on appearance?
Or was it function?
Did you pick it because it made you feel OP?
Or was it because ‘Ehh, why not…’?

Based on appearance mostly.

Reminded me of CE in the campaign where the special elites and grunts were black. So i decided to do a spartan variant.

H5: Helioskrill since I had to earn it through MCC
Reach: Try to be the biggest spartan I could make because I thought it was cool (Security shoulders and grenadier chest) + inclement weather because it’s awesome
H3: Hayabusa and katana. Again I had to earn it and it was also the most badass looking armour.

I change my armor a lot. I try to find a nice balance of form and function. For example, Recruit Charred colored pepper+carrot with an Aureus visor, not only because it looks badass but also because according to its description, the Aureus visor is supposed to be for new Spartans just like the Recruit armor, so it makes sense. And I try to avoid wearing combinations that don’t make sense, such as using an Unbreakable visor with Mark VI gen1 Scarred which has a broken visor…

But lately I’ve been going back to wearing the Timmy-chilles outfit more often. It says “I played 50 hours of custom games and also got randomly invited to an Achilles company that let me stay in it for some reason even though I don’t play any game modes that would help with company commendations”

I’ve got a few combos:

Since I just realized I hadn’t posted this above

For H5 I haven’t really figured out my look…but I am partial to the Anubis set helm.

H4
Helm: Air Assault
Visor: Midnight
Chest: Soldier
Vambraces: Contoured
Grieves: Over Locking

HR
Helm: JFO basic
Visor: Black
Chest: Tactical/Recon
Shoulders(L/R): UA/Multi threat
Forearm: Tactical/Tac Pad
Utility: Tactical/Soft Case
Knee: FJ/Para

H3
Helm: Rogue
Shoulders(L/R): EVA
Chest: CQB

I’ve always preferred a more…practical approach to my gear, I’d usually think ‘Ok, if I were actually this person, how would I set up my configuration?’
I’m sure many will think its strange but Im a strange guy what can I say lol

I chose it because I like it because I don’t like the rest of the armor options, and I probably long for the past.

I have mrk 6 classic

I used to always try to mix and match for best looking, that’s because when I played Halo Reach it had mix matched armor. Then I got Halo 4 and fell in love with Venator, ran that in Halo 5 as well, it took me forever to get it though because of RNG. Managed to get it and ran it for awhile. Then I decided to go for Helioskrill (Beat all Halo’s on Legendary), its my new favorite armor.

I mainly just go by what I think looks good.

Considering armor customization is somewhat canon I felt it made a degree of sense for Spartans to choose gear that reflected combat role and skill-set, and perhaps background.

That being said I just realized that Emile likely only wears the EVA helmet for the skull carving and that’s basically like wearing a scuba tank in the desert. It does no good if he isn’t the one in the space level.

Old school player and playing as TheLegendary117

Mark IV Gen 1, black and red because that’s what I’d wanna gointo battle wearing. like an OG spartan.

I chose the style to have a mixture of old and new look. I thought that having a somewhat old school look would be a good way to touch the old Halo roots. At the same time, I can have the appreciation for some new designs. Halo Reach, I think, showed a good example of that; retaining the iconic spartan looks while having a design that is uniquely you.

I think I’ll throw in an oddball combo of mine: Fenrir helmet + Defender Fortress body (I’m holding the Gauss Turret)

My earliest look outside of Noble Valor (I got into Halo 5 around the Memories of Reach update), this strange armor combo was the best I could do when my other unlocks were “meh” at best. In my early days of H5, Defender Fortress was my very first Legendary unlock before I was even SR 50. I didn’t have the matching helmet though, so I had to see what else could work. Fenrir was an unusually good choice. The helmet’s aggressive “v” visor and side profile was a great contrast with the bulky armor plating on the Defender body. For a while, it was my most used armor combo until I got better stuff down the road. Now, it’s a reminder of just how much I’ve evolved since then.

oh gosh. I don’t know. I like a lot of the suits but I tend to avoid ones that are really bulky, or do weird things with the arms. I’m also not a really big fan of armor that looks jagged or blocky. As for helmets, hmmm… probably anything that doesn’t look like it changes the shape of my head or messes with proportions.

And for color, well, I like softer pastel colors. I think wearing all black is pretty neat, but I don’t do it because I feel like those who do are usually hardcore players and I don’t want to look like a poser.
So if I’m being honest, I think I like the armors that tend to be a bit more streamlined and unassuming, which is probably why I’ll wear the Jumpmaster suit a lot. I’m still kind of torn on whether I like the Jump master helmet though. It seems very aggressive, which I’m also not a fan of.

The rest is trying to mix and match to see what looks good, and then messing around with color combinations because I’ve noticed some suits have a darker tone with secondary lining. Oh, and I’ll also avoid anything where the torso armor crowds up around the neck. I think it looks weird and too top heavy.
And usually, once I do manage to find a combination that works, I’ll try to see how I look from different angles. If I think I look funny (how I look from behind is also important to me) I’ll go back to a different suit and then the whole process begins again.
Currently I’m wearing the Anubis Set but I don’t think I will for very long because I think the helmet looks a little too triangle-ey.

I really wish we had options to organize all of our helmets and suits, and that we could zoom in and out to our entire body when choosing helmets.
(o_O )

I spend way too much time playing Halo fashion.

It’s because of the pompadour. Jumpmaster is the helmet Groose would wear.

Gonna take a wild guess and say you had Cypher in mind when you typed that

Locus Edge Helmet and Wrath Anthur - simply because my head is a rock.

Interesting
You definitely put a lot if thought into your armor selection

never a question I put much thought into, I am constantly changing my body armor but my helmet always stays the same, guess it means I just don’t care.

Part of the reason I wear what I wear is to try and see if “ugly” armor pieces can be put into good combos. For example, the combo I use as my go-to, Decimator and Helljumper, was partly made to see if Decimator, the weird, bulbous, Mark V B inspired whatever-it-is helmet, could actually look decent in a combo. Lo and behold, Helljumper armor does just that. I like this match a lot, and I’ve worn it for quite a while now. My other favored set, Military Police and Icarus, just gives me that standard “marine” vibe, more than Soldier does anyway. If I ever want to feel like a generic soldier in battle, I put this on.
