What does "wort wort wort" mean?

We hear the elites say it, but does it translate or is it just a battle cry?

I always figured it was just gibberish meant to sound ‘alien’. Like the random sounds Grunts and such made in Reach and 4.

Urban Dictionary may not be the best source to use, but according to the folks over there, it loosely translates to “Go go go!”. Though I imagine it could mean just about anything from “attack” to “retreat” and anything in between. Pretty much whatever the context of the situation is.

“Wort, wort, wort” was created by reversing David Scully’s “Go! Go! Go!” and speeding it up. I find it ironic that it still means go go go in Sangheili.

Run through a translator is means… “Skin blemish Skin blemish Skin blemish”

Thanks for that little piece of trivia! I had no idea that’s how they came up with it.

I think it means GO GO GO!!!

The next question is… what does ‘Blargh’ translate to?

If you want to, you can listen to the corrected soundclips here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3Gfw3Ojo1o It’s basically a solid minute of Sgt. Johnson sounding like he’s trying to pass the universe’s worst kidney stone. Glorious.

Pretty sure it means Go Go Go

Thanks for that mental image. Now I can play it side by side with my Master Chief “Careless Whisper” shower scene.

Back during the Combat Evolved days my teenage self thought it was hilarious. But it also highlights the creative yet simple ways Bungie used to develop the universe despite the massive development time crunch they were under.

Honestly, that’s pretty neat.

War, war war or kill kill kill…just my idea

It doesn’t officially mean anything. People think it means “Go go go” because that’s what Wort Wort Wort backwards gets you (or more accurately, reversing “Go go go” results in “Wort wort wort”). Honestly, I think it’s just a sound Elites make sometimes, not a word or something with specific meaning.
