what does title "infinite" means ?

hello,
It’s all in the title of this topic.

what does the title “infinity” mean?

I do not know the good universe of HALO and I wonder about this term “infinite”.

Team DEV react proposes something to explain this title?

thx

It’s the last mainline halo title and the devs want to keep it going

To me it means that the Devs want to open the Halo universe to more then the master chief saga. In other words infinite possibilities of new planets, people and stories to introduce. Got the idea from Bioshock infinite and the saying “there is always a lighthouse, there’s always a man, there’s always a city.” I know it’s just speculation but that is my take on it.

;-; its pretty heartbreaking when I actually read it out loud

Idk man, chiefs story had to end sometime. Hes old. This also allows them to keep his story going without milking it too badly. Anytime they want to add to his story, they release a cheaper expansion rather than designing a whole new game. It will save money and give us a lot more story wise. Also allows them to focus on spinoff stories or maybe a whole new saga of Halo.

Thought it was;

a) Breaking free of the numbered titles. It’s hard to attract new players with game number 6 - especially when you are going for a spiritual reboot.

b) Moving to the 10 year ‘platform’. This would otherwise encompass Halo games 6 through 10 (or even 11 on a two year release cycle). Easier to drop the numbers and avoid any confusion.

Along with the points mentioned above, Halo Infinite’s world is a sandbox, allowing for “Infinite” possibilities

Do we have confirmation that it’s the last? Last I heard they’re just planning on developing new content and supporting it for a rather long while.

thats what he means. So they wont make a brand new main line game. Instead, all improvements and additions will be attached to this title

All of them? Even into whatever comes after the Series X? I find that hard to believe. I don’t think Infinite will be able to be sustained for more than one console generation.

we dont know how long this generation is going, also, depending on the flexibility of the engine, it easily could. Graphical changes and engine improvements can be implemented. New gameplay features and or changes can be done. Plenty of games of proved this idea of existing within 1 generation, isn’t a thing. With how games can be updated, the need for a direct sequel isn’t necessarily needed. It all depends on how the tools function and how flexible the engine is.

It’s one reason why destiny just gutted destiny 2. they are changing all of their back-end tools to the new engine model, thus allowing them flexibility as they roll out future additions. Don’t take that as a one to one though. I dont expect yearly expansions for halo (possible but not expected). I expect it to me one game with a major story expansion/additional being added every couple years.

Infinite maybe a long platform for the Halo Franchise
