What does this mean?

I was reading the Halo Community update today and they stated this "Remember, all Halo 5 REQ Pack purchases will add to the prize pool of HCS open events next season!" What does this specifically mean? That the HCS reqs are going to be added to the req pool next season? Or are they going to be able to purchase with real money again? Or is it going to be the same as of how it is now? Please reply as I was really getting excited to get the Athlon Champion armor but I don’t have gold at the moment and I don’t think I’ll be getting it for a while.

I think you are reading into it to far. It simply means the more packs they sell the bigger the prize pool(money awarded to the teams) for HCS events will be. Has nothing to do with what is in them.

like at launch probably.
A portion of the money spent on REQ packs will be added to the prize pool of the championship.
Like,
70% goes to i343
30% goes to Prize Pool

Though not necesserily those percentages

Okay thank you for the confirmation, I’m disappointed that I’m missing out on the Req pack, but hopefully for next season it’s still in game purchasable.

I don’t really get why we should even care about the prize pool.

You don’t need to, but for those that want to compete at local events then it’s a great incentive to get teams created if there’s something worthwhile up for grabs. It gets Halo’s name out there, builds up hype for the brand and people that enjoy competitive Halo. It gets more people watching streams and going to events

I don’t get how it gets Halo’s name out there is it not already well known and aren’t the only people interested in it already Halo fans.

And more local events has potential to bring more people into the game. There will be those who haven’t played or might not have joined if they didn’t go along. Really it’s a good thing for Halo, but it’s not something you need to bother with if you don’t want to

Arty launch, at least for a while, every cash req purchase went into the prize pool. 343i doesn’t keep any.

You shouldn’t unless you’re a competitive gamer and have a team that has a legitimate shot at winning it. Otherwise it’s basically just telling us “Hey guys! Some of the money from our microtransactions is going to be given to ‘professional’ gamers that you don’t know or care about!”
