WHAT DOES THE WORD "HALO" MEAN?

Im a Halo CE Kid, excuse my ignorance but does the word “HALO” mean anything or have a definition? Or is it just a name?

Is it an acronym for something?

It will be forever synonymous with the most badly organised game launch in history. A launch so poor, that it was considered that it could only be surpassed through the perpetual shocking communication and with the utter disregard and incredible contempt they’ve shown their community.

It will be taught in classrooms alongside case studies such as the Hoover Free Flights promotion when students study “how to single-handedly destroy a reputation”.

Wow.

Yes it obviously has a definition. It means a circle, a geometric shape, typically related to angels and divine objects.

So, Halo CE, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo Wars, Halo 3: ODST, Halo: Reach, and Halo 4 all had the some of the most hyped and disintegrated launches of all time?

I think it just refers to the rings. they look like giant halos. I have really gotten into the Halo story since the multiplayer was non working for me for the first two months. but no I don’t think it has a meaning like in the military it means High Altitude Low Open.

No, quite obviously not. But if you actually considered what I’ve written, you’ll come to the realisation that reputations are often forged on the failure of one product line. How does 14-time Major Winner Tiger Woods fit into your reality? Hoover made fantastic products, and essentially destroyed its company with one failed PR stint… hint hint

Trust takes years to gain, but can be lost in seconds.

Fact: An ancient planet, ring shaped world. Built by an ancient race called the Forerunners. It is a weapon designed to wipe the galaxy clean of all organic life, in order to starve the parasitic life form, the Flood, to death, and prevent them from consuming all other organic life in the galaxy… The Halo ring also has other purposes too e.g. It’s a shield world and a scientific location to preserve and study the flood.
